Metalheads, please raise your horns and be counted.

If you like a bit of atmospheric tech death then check out the latest Fallujah album. Starlit Path The new Amorphis album is pretty cool as well, best stuff I've heard from them in a while. Death of a King

Marlin Flake vs Old Gowrie vs HOTW

I've recently been testing out all 3 and they are all quality tobaccos depending on what you are looking for. I'm not an advanced reviewer of tobaccos but for me, Marlin Flake wins. As other have said, the flavour is richer and you get a very balanced dose of perique.

    Cornell & Diehl's Rajah's Court---- Any Fans??

I'm still near the start of my piping journey and working on trying to identify the signature flavours of each tobacco type. Orientals elude me completely! Would this be a good blend to get to grips with core oriental flavours?

To All the Aros I've Loved Before

I'm sure I read somewhere that the LotR cast were given a few tobaccos to try when choosing one to smoke while filming. Stokkebye Nougat was the unanimous choice.

    Pipe Smoking Myth #1

Coming from the cigar world, I've always believed that ash color indicated burn temperature. The whiter the ash is, the more complete the combustion, hence a higher temperature. In both cigars and pipes you want to maximise flavour as much as possible by keeping the ember burning low so I've...

    Christmas in July?

Thanks Pruss, I'll maybe grab a couple of tins then. I do love a good Va. I too enjoy Glynn's blends although I only tried one bowl of his last Christmas blend. I'll have to grab a pouch when the new one appears.

    Christmas in July?

Is christmas cheer always a safe bet to buy 'blind'? I'm not really an aro smoker but I'm tempted to try one of the holiday blends as I like the idea of a tobacco with ginger, nutmeg, etc. I just don;t want to be stuck with something goopy.

    Kilts?

So, I'm a born and bred Scot, this thread has been quite interesting to read through. It's always interesting to see how people from other countries view your own. Below is a pic of myself (left) and my best man on my wedding day. My tartan is a variant of my clan one, Ancient Hunting Taylor...

How to Buy Tobacco from UK

Yeah, it might be worth emailing Glynn to see what he says. Otherwise, a friendly pipe smoker in the UK willing to ship a bulk package over to the US for further distribution would be handy!

    GQ Tobacco

I've been smoking a fair bit of GQ tobaccos since I started the pipe as I'm in the UK, Glynn knows his stuff and is a nice guy. The above reviews sound about right. You should spend a bit more time with Nottingham Lace: Rouge, I really like it. For anyone who likes strong lakeland/floral...

    MM Reverse Calabashes at SPC

Ah well, I'll have to be quicker off the mark. I'm still fairly new to pipe smoking but I'm beginning to understand the slippery slope that is PAD!

    MM Reverse Calabashes at SPC

Will any more of these become available or is that it?

    Ordering from Hu-Tobacco

Wow, I've read all of JimInks' reviews and I don't know where to start with my first order! I was going to go with some Fayyum, Director's Cut, Sunset and Dockworker to try them out. I'd appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has smoked a lot of Hans' blends.

    Aged tin tobacco

A lesson I learned in the cigar world is to become familiar with the fresh product first. There's no point buying a tin of something you've never tried and ageing it for 3 years as you'll have no idea what effect the ageing has had.

    15% Off Sale at P&C

Wish these guys shipped to the UK!

    Metalheads, UNITE!

Funnily enough, just before seeing this thread I'd put on Triarchy of the Lost Lovers by Rotting Christ. A great band who have written some of the best riffs ever in their nearly 30 years together. They've never gotten the recognition they deserve imo, it's probably the name! Other than that...

I'm Not Smoking A Work of Art

Lots of interesting thoughts here. Sablebrush, I also love that this hobby has provided a little window into the past and having an antique pipe definitely does have the ability to transport be back in time but it's smoking it that does it for me, not just owning/holding it. Conlejm, I...

I'm Not Smoking A Work of Art

I too think that it's a pipe's destiny to be smoked, artisan or not, it's a tool at the end of the day. If I wanted to buy a piece of art I'd rather buy some fine prints to hang on my walls. To touch upon the idea of leaving pipes to my kid(s) down the line. If my father had left me 2 pipes, one...

What Do Pipe Smokers Do For A Living?

Really interesting thread, there seems to be such a wide variety of people on this board. I'm another IT database administrator, slowly moving into the realm of Business Intelligence and working on my MCSE. This is the UK so no chance of smoking anywhere near the workplace. My wife also makes...

Taking Stock - Full Collection Pic

What's the rusticated rhodesian on the right side with the angular cut outs? Sorry, still pretty new to this pipe smoking malarky and I'm terrible at identifying pipes. I just thought that one looked pretty unique.
