When You Lose But Still Win...

Congratulations on the win! Fantastic looking pipe and I really like that stem! I'd have been hoping he passed it over as well! Hope she smokes like a dream, I know mine does!

    P&C has Esoterica

I like the sign up idea. Kind of like on SP's where you're placed in a que for the email, but instead it's a que for the purchase that holds the product for your place in line. You have several days to decide and purchase, before its released to next person in line for it. That could solve a lot...

    I Miss 2015

That's the ticket! I've been smoking Borkum Riff for the past few days and I gotta say, I think I'm changing my cellaring plan and stocking up on Borkum Riff and tossing the Esoterica out in the flower beds.

    I Miss 2015

I'm of the mindset that we should start hyping about all the stuff not many people like. We should hype it up, get them buying that and tell them the good stuff really ain't that good, it's just grown in human feces. You know, try to turn them off and leave more for the ones that know better...

    Mortise Tight/Sticky After Cleaning

Could have just been a difference in the grain. Soft grain absorbs more than hard grain, so if one has more soft grain than the other, maybe it absorbed more fluid than the other? Anyways, glad it all worked out for you!

The Black Frigate Will Be Docking Here On Tuesday 19MAR2019

Um...no? At least....not anymore  Thought your exact words were "eat his lunch, boys! Make him talk!" We translated that to mean we had to eat the pie he brought on board, it was all the food he had! It didn't taste that good, if it makes you feel any better Cap'n!

    P&C has Esoterica

I snagged a tin of Margate, since I haven't tried it yet. I don't actively seek these out, but if they land and I have a chance, I'll pick something up all along.

More like the eye-less Pie-less....yeah, we ate the pie you smuggled on board...on Captains orders...I blame it on the fluid.

The Black Frigate Will Be Docking Here On Tuesday 19MAR2019

Yarrrr not all that farrr off! We keep a flame a burnin' in the galley for roastin' tha rats...I wouldn't be far from sayin' he'd squak pretty loudly once we get him near tha flames...show'em tha fresh roasted pigeons nearby...let Anthony sing in his falsetto tone for a bit...he'll talk!

    Mortise Tight/Sticky After Cleaning

Maybe sticking them both in the freezer? I've done that to remove a stem from a pipe when stuck, but never had to try to put the stem back in. Just a thought.

Yep, privacy error if you're using Chrome like me. Thought it was just my office connection.

    Bit Style

If you want to call it technical, then some might say that a bent stem can create a greater likelihood of gurgle than a straight stem. Just one of the observations I've made. The bend allows for more condensation to gather in the stem which can gather near the draft hole at the bottom creating a...

    Post Your Catch 2019

Planning a fish fry ourselves in the next month or so. We like to jug fish, setting them out up stream, then let them float down the river towards camp and see what we catch. By the time they get down there, the short straw loses and has to go out and pick them up, then we filet them right by...

    Pipe making kits ?

I used a version of the alcohol based dyes in which you use the powder in combination with denatured alcohol, but I honestly couldn't tell you what brand he had. He said it came in a kit and he's had the same dyes for many years now. As far as colors, I have no idea, but his weren't named the...

    Pipe making kits ?

I thoroughly enjoyed working with mine. I've only done one so far, but I want to get more. I made this one from a pipe kit: I have a band saw for trimming out the bigger hunks, a set of files for shaping, a few sanders and a Dremel. Had to go to a pipe club members house to finish it as I...

    Desk Top Versus Laptop

Yeah, like when we learned Harris has a propensity for warming his nuggets by the warmth of his laptop. Tom, I don't see you being the kinda guy that totes a laptop around with you. Sure, it makes it handy to have it where you want it, but temptation to prowl the interwebs long past bed time is...

Newbie Cellaring Question -- Want to preserve opened tins

I have been keeping larger quantities in the pint sized jars and then keeping myself smaller, 4 oz jars to fill my pipe from. I figure it's better to open the bigger jars when I need to fill my smaller jars than to open the larger jar every time. I keep anywhere from 5-10 small jars going at any...

The Black Frigate Will Be Docking Here On Tuesday 19MAR2019

Looks like someone's already been into the cleaning fluid! I thought Anthony put a lock on that cabinet last week! Shiver me timbers! Now we got new recruits gettin' into the stash! Now we're going to need to make a stop into port sooner than expected and pick up more...and apparently...
