    Deertongue, Anyone?

I’ve been smoking Crooner quite regularly since Christmas. Apparently it was a fave blend of Bing Crosby himself (if we’re to believe the marketing). So it just seemed right to order some and smoke it whilst watching White Christmas. From what I understand, it’s burley and deertongue, and I’ve...

    I Love This Pipe

I love that little shop. The man who runs it is named Richard. Just a delightful fellow. And a bit quirky, in a good way. Here’s a link to his YouTube page where he started uploading funny stories a couple years ago, if you’re interested. https://www.youtube.com/user/thedreadtyger

    New Friend

I’ll have to see if I can capture a good pic to show y’all a detail about this pipe I absolutely love. You can kind of almost see it in the pic above, but the holes on the bowl are actually carved in a type of “latticework,” meaning towards the middle of the bowl there is a separation between...

    New Friend

Happy International Pipe Smoking Day. I’ve never heard of such holiday until last night, but it was all the encouragement I needed to part with my money. Here’s a new friend I picked up 30 minutes ago at Schwab’s in Lex, KY

    Cube Cut

Since I’m talking about Crooner in this post, I feel like I also need to add one point: Deertongue makes me very happy. That’s all.

    Done with Aromatics…?

My 2 cents: I’m not very adept at aros either. But I’ll say this: I have encountered non-aro Virginia blends bf that are so masterfully crafted, when I opened the bag I swore they were aromatics. One such blend is called Kingsfoil and is made by The Country Squire. Might be difficult to get as...

I’m loving that shirt! Go Big Blue!

    Cube Cut

That’s interesting about the codger blends bc I’ve noticed my dad only ever fills his pipe by scooping in the bag or tin. He NEVER picks up a pinch & sprinkles/stuffs/loads his pipe. It’s like a functional ritual to him. In his world, there’s only way to fill a bowl. No finesse, and no worrying...

    Cube Cut

Snagged some Crooner to smoke while watching Bing over Xmas. Came back to it today. Gotta say, I’m incredibly fond of cube cut. Packs smoother than any cut I’ve ever smoked.

    Smoking Your Bowl Down

A year or two ago I came back to pipe smoking after a decade hiatus. It was both like riding a bike, and learning how to ride a bike again. And a lot of relaxing fun. I had the same problem you’re describing. I believe I asked the same Q somewhere on these forums, and IIRC @Chasing Embers...

    Dogs & Pipes

Sorry for your loss, my friend. It’s been a few years and a new dog since we lost our 2 labs, Colonel & Franklin, & I still miss them every day.

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

Like you, I’ll clench temporarily. But never for long, for the same reasons. I too worry about the enamel. But I also seem to catch a lot more flavor when I “filter” through the teeth. I guess every bowl really is just a nonstop dance bt dif sides of my mouth, in front of teeth, behind teeth...

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

    🤣🤣🤣 I plead the 69th…I mean the 5th…of Woodford.

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

Exact same. Have never found that “sweet spot” where any kind of pipe just sits without being slobbery distraction or bouncing all over the place.

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

Yes, this is it. I probably just wasn’t very clear. But in short, the question revolves around whether you let the smoke initially hit your teeth, or whether you always bypass the teeth and let it initially hit you tongue. If you clench, I assume the smoke always hits your tongue with every draw...

To Teeth or Not to Teeth

I have a Q that is really just a curiosity. And I know this query touches a bit on clenchers vs lippers, and particularly not applying well to you exclusive clenchers. My apologies. Bite me. 😬 When you smoke, do you draw in front of your teeth, letting the smoke hit your pearly…uh…ecrus? Or do...

    Smoky Mountain Tobacconist - Gatlin-Burlier

We actually visit Gatlinburg at least once a year, sometimes twice. I’ve been nearly every year of my 44 years. My parents loved it, and we would often vacation there. Every trip, I make it a point to stop in and say to the gang. IIRC, the founder was quite important in 70s, and actually...

Help Me Find a Similar Pipe

My gourd calabash is fun to look at, but it doesn’t draw very well, and the bowl is just plain small. And I don’t mind small bowls, but such a small bowl on such a large “eventful” pipe just throws me off.
