    My First Pipe Recommendation

I do recommend Peterson Systems to people starting out in my shop. The system works! Although if we carried Falcons, I'd recommend them. No need to learn how to smoke a pipe if you own a Falcon.

    Mac Barren HH vs Standard

St Bruno, the patron Saint of pipe smokers. The only tobacco I could happily smoke exclusively, I think.

Ruminations on the Aging of Briar

Advertising hype was invented for Briar Lee.

    Getting Sick After <Daily Bowl

Ah, two different things. I'm not saying it drops your blood sugars, but that nicotine overload can trick the brain's receptors. Also, not a hill I'd die on. A little sugar will usually stop the spins, though.

    Getting Sick After <Daily Bowl

It's not for the blood sugar, but for relief of symptoms. Nicotine poisoning mimics diabetic shock. Other than that, I'm out of ideas for you.

Codger Blend as a Daily Smoke

Used to be a "pouch blend" of Sugar Barrel and Walnut. Not anymore, lol.

Question for the Various Samuel Gawith Flakes

You should experiment, maybe. Me, I like a Virginia after a latakia. Others hate it. No matter what you do, somebody will tell you you're wrong but as long as you're putting the tobacco in the big end and putting the little end in your mouth, you're ok.

Let's See All of the Commissions You Had Made

Jack Howell was a regular at the local pipe club years ago and I've always regretted that law student discretionary spending wouldn't run to one of his pieces. Total gentleman, accomplished at every task he took up. Those pipes are awfully nice.

Question for Pipe Makers About Lees

That's a pretty pipe. The fellow who took me under his wing years ago was a big fan of old Comoys and Charatans and brands with orific bits, so I've always had a soft spot for factory pipes and don't consider them in any way inferior to so called "artisan pipes." Nobody can make a billiard...

I've never had the patience to do what you're doing and thank you for doing it. My way is just to smoke the snot out of them and try not to obsess. This is a cool project!

How Latakia is Pronounced in Syria

From what I've been told, the world's love of latakia tobacco deforested the place, basically using a high-value resource to make a low-value product. A shame if it's true.

Question for Pipe Makers About Lees

Lee was a perfect example of mid-century American marketing flummery designed to convince the man who had to watch his shekels that he was getting more pipe than he should for the money. World's best briar my sainted Aunt. And it didn't work on many people, as the number of unsmoked or...

Mornings: Do You Prepare For Battle?

Wake. Prayer. Morning ablutions. Singular coffee. If a late day, second coffee and pipe in my smoking tent (the "Fortress of Paulitude").

Just poking fun at a repetitive topic. I have zero problem with anybody smoking whatever they want in whatever pipe they choose.

Sorry, I didn't know. I wasn't here. I surmise from no available evidence that having the world's only source of briar in 1946 coupled with being soaked in water for an unspecified amount of time is what makes the Pipes by Lee the best pipe ever made ever, unlike those cheap dunhill pipes...
