Tomorrow is my birthday (no, this is not a shameless plug for birthday wishes...) so I thought I would pick out a nice piece of briar to make myself a pipe. Pipe Makers do you coat your bowls?
For my own pipes that I make and keep I have both kept them bare and coated some with honey. I always leave them bare for te pipes I sell, although thatay change at some point with some.- briarbird

Questions about working with burl
Hey Shaintiques, any time that I keep the plateau on top, I usually just use a file to lightly take off the bark material. Nothing fancy about it, but it works. Good luck with your project, I am excited to see the final product! Are you making the stem as well? J- briarbird

Couple of Pokers
This first one was commissioned along with the last bulldog I posted. The second poker was just for the hell of it, this was actually the very first pipe I ever sandblasted.
