    Removing a stinger from stummel..

Jesus lol I had no clue. It’s an old Hardcastle Giant. I figured it was the end of the type stingers that slide over the piece that’s in the stem.

    Removing a stinger from stummel..

So far I have tried alcohol and heating. I’ve also twisted a larger nylon brush in there and pulled it straight back out (if you’ve ever done this you know it creates a good amount of drag) Short of drilling the thing out I’m stumped

    Removing a stinger from stummel..

It’s about an inch and a half down till I can reach the thing or I would have tried that. I guess I should have been a bit more descriptive. This photo should clear things up. ..

An attempt to improve a Dunhill’s replacement stem.

This means a lot. I’ve been messing around with restoring for about a year and really would like to get into repairs. I appreciate it.

An attempt to improve a Dunhill’s replacement stem.

Right. The slot got modified as well. I wish I took more pictures before I started this process. I honestly thought I did but I only have the one I posted.

    Yeah, I know, I'm weird.

I always got labeled weird for adding water by most people but it usually did change things for the better in my opinion.

An attempt to improve a Dunhill’s replacement stem.

It’s a patent pipe from 1945 so I figured that the celluloid would be a more accurate colored dot. I work the button some but it was cut in crooked to begin with and not much on there to shape so I did what I could

Also does that look centered to you guys? There is a great debate going on over this and I need this settled please.

An attempt to improve a Dunhill’s replacement stem.

I got this Dunhill a while ago and the replacement stem was not the greatest to say the least. After some reshaping and dot adding here’s the “improvement” As I purchased The dotting process The final result. The only thing I regret is bumping up from 1/16” to 5/64” The 1/16” matched an...

    Loft find Barlings cased pair

Such a great find even in the condition. Rarity paired with the fact that they were a loved one’s makes this very cool. If I were you I would do my best to clean them up and hold on to those forever. It’s not everyday you see cased sets of Barlings like that and to me it wouldn’t be worth the...
