Things to avoid while pipe smoking?
+1 on smoking bents in the car, but I am actually serious. I once owned a 7" Canadian by Ashton. It was a rainy day so my driver side window was slightly open, just enough to let the smoke come out. For some odd reason, I turned my head hard left and hit the window with the bowl..... 8O...- rcstan

Older Rusticated / Blasted Cleaning Tips
Correct! Old wax + hand grime. Use a hairdryer to get the stuff soft, scrub off with a brush, let it cool down, repeat as needed. If you have a heat gun and a buffer with a Sissal wheel, it happens faster.- rcstan

SG Squadron Leader
I am not aware of any of the SG blends being sold by the ounce anymore since they are only imported in tins and 250g bags. Never bought Squadron Leader by the box, is it moister than the tinned ?- rcstan

Ennerdale Flake
Well, you could give G&H Best Brown #2 a shot. To my palate, it's the base flake used to make Ennerdale. Both are lovely blends. You may also want to visit Glengary Flake and Grassmere Flake, same stuff, different flavorings.- rcstan

Should I have this 1950 Dunhill Shell Restored? (Pic Heavy)
As long as the chamber is healthy, and nothing is broken, it should clean up just fine. I wouldn't restain or top the bowl, or anything of the sort, as it will take away from the character of the pipe. Be gentle with it.- rcstan

May I add the offerings from Planta, made in Germany, haven't found one to disappoint, as well as most of the Peterson aromatics ( esp Connoisseurs Choice ).
