    Gawith Hoggarth New Blends

North Star used to be a GH blend before it was discontinued in the US. When I tried it, during that run, I don’t remember a flavoring. It was a mostly air-cured blend. I think the people saying it’s not flavored are commenting from the earlier different production.

Is The Air Too Humid For The Flake To Dry?

IF you don't have microwave or air-conditioned space, one thought is to put it rubbed out on a plate in the refrigerator. The humidity in the fridge is lower. Check it after 15 or 30 minutes.

Corona Old Boy - Are They Worth It?

I stick with matches and just buy tobacco. Matches will always be available everywhere and burn cooler than either fuel. Have an issue with a match? Try a different match. Shake a box of matches and I have an idea when I'm running low. It's less temperamental. I've yet to own a refillable...

Help Finding (and Understanding) Dark Virginia Pipe Tobacco

Dark Virginia is tough to glean anything from marketing materials because it could mean any number of things: You can buy types of seeds labeled as Dark Virginia. In the same way, it could also mean grades. Some Virginias are air cured. Some are fire-cured. This is a similar process to Dark...

Samuel Gawith Cabbie's Mixture Available in US?

It's the brighter, milder broken flake cousin of FVF. It has tea-like qualities and a very thin smoke. I liked it less than I should have on paper.

Samuel Gawith Cabbie's Mixture Available in US?

I love Cabbie's. It made my day seeing they brought it back. Some of the later batches (around the tail end of when it was last available) weren't up to snuff in leaf and in lakeland contamination. $20+ is crazy crazy crazy

    Boxpressed: What For?

I like them. They don't roll around. It's like smoking a home depot pencil.

    Blind Tasting: Red Virginia

I cut into the sixth pouch today and wrote my thoughts this morning. Looked back over them as I finished the package this evening. Have stayed away from this thread, so I wasn't spoiled. I'll include my earlier reviews as well to keep everything together. ______________________________ #1 I...

Best Blend of 2024: The Nominations Phase

I think elsewhere a discussion of the "Release of the Year" would be nice. But given how jbfrady clarified the intent here, I'll share: the blend I have been enjoying and smoking this year has been D&R Ryback.
