Cobs and Codgers Who Smoke Them!

I'm not a huge fan, but I get the appeal for people who want something no-frills and dependable. I will say I use my cobs when I'm fishing/hiking

What's Your Favorite Drink While Smoking Your Pipe?

Usually tea for me -- I can never seem to taste much from the smoke if I drink alcohol.

SG Skiff Mixture vs Squadron Leader - ?

What I've always heard is that Skiff is more oriental heavy, vs SL which is pretty much virginia and latakia. I prefer Skiff personally--the tangy bbq oriental keeps it tasting fuller and more interesting.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2021?***

This morning was sobranie match out of a cob while hiking. Not a huge fan of the smoke to be honest, but a pleasant time regardless.

FVF Flake - Tin vs Bulk

Bulk isn't sealed, so you lose some aroma/flavor. Most of the time, since these sell quickly, it doesn't matter all that much. I don't buy things like ennerdale or 1792 in bulk anymore though.

What's The Rap On The Bulldog Shape?

Always wanted one, but for some reason have never pulled the trigger.

Well, this is news to me lol.

    Frequent Tamping is Key

Depends on the blend for me -- flakes tend to expand and require more tamping, whereas ribbon cuts create a compact ash by themselves.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Some Ennerdale flake that's been aging for about 5 years now. Definitely need to start working on the blends in the back of the cellar!

    wow, that coloring is insane

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

First Smoke of the Day ?

Unfortunately, I never get to smoke in the morning, but if I did, I'd probably go with a red virginia.

    New Pipe Advice.

I'd go for a nice meerschaum personally

Car Smoking & Keeping Things Fresh

My buddy smoked in his car -- no amount of ozium or anything else seemed to get the smell out completely. Even with leather seats.

To Rest or Not to Rest

Never felt the need to rest my pipes, but then again, I rarely smoke more than a bowl a day.

    Tobacco Recommendations for a Beginner.

I'd recommend carter hall. It's very forgiving. I tried starting with virginia flakes and hated it. Carter Hall let me get the mechanics of pipe smoking down.
