What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

Yet another JJ Cale compilation disc, The Silvertone Years and this has some cracking tracks I've not heard elsewhere. Jay.

A Question For The Forum Brainiacs.

These last few days I've been teaching myself how to condense my still expanding CD collection onto USB pendrives and I have to say I'm rather impressed with my progress thus far. However, last night whilst listening to some funky guitar tunes by one Bill Frisell, I got to thinking about what I...

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

Yet again this Forum is helping me spend what few pennies I have. Yesterday I had 2 packages of Bill Frisell tunes land on my doormat, the first was a double live set called East/West and the second track on disc 1 I thought very appropriate with what is currently going on, it's called Blues...

There's no Cure for Stupid #136.

Well I'm sure some ice cold water would be welcome. Jay.

There's no Cure for Stupid #136.

Some pillock in Melbourne decides on setting alight a fast food outlet only to set himself aflame instead. In his panic he has to strip off his burning clothes as his bemused pal looks on. Police are seeking anyone with roasted nuts  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/cm21n77rdz1o...

Thoroughly enjoyed Roy Buchanan's double set Anthology again last night . Followed by another JJ Cale compilation. Jay.

Trapped in Self-Driving Taxi Going in Circles

I saw that on the BBC website yesterday and wondered if it might be one of Musk's cars, totally out of control :) Jay.

2025 will be the Year of...

He looks remarkably familiar but I just can't put my finger on who it is. Jay.

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

After making enquiries on a Hi-Fi Forum I've now converted my NTFS pendrives to FAT32 and my WAV files to FLAC files, or rather I've used some new software (EAC) to rip them as FLAC files. One huge rigmarole but I think I'm getting there. Jay.

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

Last night it was more 1970's rock for me. One in particular is a huge favourite, Golden Earring's Moontan with their massive hit Radar Love as the opening track. Below is the UK album cover art, the prudish Yanks got a pretty boring cover ;) Jay.

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

Oops. If you mean The Road To Escondido then I bought a copy less than an hour ago  . I'm actually looking into ripping his albums onto a memory stick so as I can play then all together but having problems with which format my Marantz and Yamaha likes. Then you get all types of...

    The Dude

Aha, thanks, I now get it and yes, I did watch the film a couple of years ago. Jay.

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

After getting into JJ Cale via this Forum I've accumulated several of his albums and my latest is this triple disc affair simply called Collected. There are many Cale compilations out there but this one is quite different as the third disc contains mostly previously unreleased tunes, some of...

What on earth are you lot talking about? Have I missed something? Jay.

Who Would Be In Your Dream Rock/Blues Band?

Yes, for some inexplicable reason we hear nothing of the fellow these days yet in his day he was a great innovator and by all accounts a really nice, if troubled guy. Jay.

A Little Humor for the Day 2024

Same in a joinery shop, sending the apprentice to fetch a left handed hammer or a long stand where they were told 'just wait there'. Jay.

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

Following up on a tip posted by @DesertDan last month I bought the album Squint by Julian Lage. I first played it through my new headphones then again via my stereo set up and it sounded fantastic in both, he really is some great guitar player and one I shall be seeking more albums from. Jay.

    Room Heater

Well I certainly hope you get something sorted, as I'm sure you're aware, the forecast for your neck of the woods (mine too) looks pretty bleak for at least a week. How is your wi-fi connection going, is it sorted yet or are you still travelling to places miles away just to connect? Jay.

    Hedge Building in Great Britain

They really are creatures of beauty. Actually they are legless lizards that can grow to around 12-16 inches though the ones I've seen were rarely over 9 inches. Very shy critters, they are quite the rarity these days and I believe they're a protected species....if they aren't then they really...

What Are You Listening To? - January, 2025

This disc I never knew existed, let alone was in my collection  B.B. King live in Cannes 1983. Jay.
