Is it the pipe or tobacco that's relaxing?

Hey all, I recently returned to the pipe after over a year. I did enjoy the simplicity of small cigars and cigarillos, but the flavor could never match pipe tobacco. I have also found that smoking a pipe definitely relaxes me. I never really experienced this with any cigar. Do you think...

    Nosewarmers, hate?

Anyone else hate Nosewarmers. I had one for a short while and couldn't stand all the smoke in my face and entering my lungs. All my pipes are now straight with high bowls and over 5.5 inches. Anyone else in the same camp?

Thinking of getting a Boswell Bridge styled pipe

Hi, Anyone have any experience with this style pipe? Ive never seen anyone else produce this exact style. They have one available now on their site. It's not huge like some of the Bridges they have produced. Im not a clencher, so weight is not a huge obstacle for me. I also prefer any large...

Anyone else leave the pipe to go to cigars then return back to pipes!

Hi, I stopped smoking the pipe over a year ago because it was causing some asthma. I was smoking 3-4 avg sized bowls a week. I decided to try cigars, smoked them for about 8 months. Only 2 robusto sized per month. Never had an issue, but I was smoking so much less. Never fid care that...

Found what I think is a good meerchaum...meerchaummarket?

I found a nice long poker style meerchaum on ebay. Asking $185. 7.25 L 2.2 H. I want to keep the smoke out of my face, lol. I offered a lot less to start. I like the beeswax color. What do you think? Comes from Turkey.

    Meerschaum...function vs art?

Hi, I've been looking at a few Turkish made full block Meerschaums with delrin push/pull fittings. My practicality side is telling me to go with a smooth billiard style while my artistic side likes viking, skull and Indian heads in a 3/4 bend. Unfortunately, I can't afford both. What to do??

    Peterson Meerschaum Sherlock Holmes edition?

Hi, anyone have any personal experience with this pipe. I'm looking at a P lip. Never tried one before, but I've heard it slightly restricts draw and is better for those who do not clench. Also, read that Meerschaum in general helps absorb tars and acts like a filter. Restricting some tars...

A Harris pipe arrived, damn large pit!

Hi, I was eagerly awaiting my Anthony Harris double chamber pipe that I won on ebay. It was new. I unpacked it and noticed a long (1/5") pit on the right shank. Dann! Sellers pics didn't show anything. Anyway I have contacted the seller and asked for a refund. I would have bid less had I...

Stanwells made in Denmark and draw?

Hi, I'm looking at an older estate Stanwell Sixus made in Denmark. What kind of draw can I expect? I prefer a draw that's not too open and less then Boswells, Radical ND Ser Jacopo . Also are all the stems vulcanite? Thanks

Just won an Anthony Harris double chamber!

Hi, well I have now spent a record amount for a pipe. Yes, an Anthony Harris DC. Pipe is 7.25" long, 2.25" high and a .75 chamber. It's 3.25oz. so, it will not be clenched. I really cant clench anyway, because the smoke in my face affects my asr jma. Funny, I was looking at super light...

Anyone familiar with Henrik Olsen pipes?

Hi, I'm looking at a very lite .9 oz sandblasted Canadian pipe from this Danish pipe maker. Not much info out there. Anyone familiar with his work? Thanks

Can you recommend pipe makers with less open draw?

Hi, I'm looking for good quality pipes with a slightly smaller draft hole than 5/32. I find Boswell and Radical to be too open for my taste. I sometimes find small bits if vaccine getting through. Looking at under $200 retail. Thanks

    Rusticated bowl, shank.cooler?

Hi, anyone else notice that rusticated pipes are cooler to hold than smooth ones? Never really noticed the difference in the smoke, but definitely cooler to hold onto.

How difficult is it to light up/pack a "horn" pipe?

Hi, Well, I'm starting to look at pipes again. I sold my collection over a year ago due to my asthma getting worse. Started smoking cigars at a low rate 2/month and I've had no ill effects. I was smoking my pipes 3x/week. I should have just cut back. I have yet to find a cigar as enjoyable...

Anyone compare 6mm Balsa filters to 9mm?

Hi, I'm interested in buying a Savinelli with the balsa filter. I know the 6mm version is more common in the US than the 9mm, but has anyone compared both side by side. I know the 9mm would probably make more sense if you plan on running the charcoal filters, which I do with my Big Ben. Thanks
