    I think maybe the stummels were being turned in France and being sent to the US for finishing. Millions of pipes over maybe 50 years. Could Corsica have handled that volume? I dunno. Maybe it was a combination of sources just labeled French. Pure conjecture on my part.

    Oh yeah! Generic French Briar. The stamp embellishments are very art nouveau. Nickel cap and a horn stem. I’d call it 1900ish. Could easily be older. Looks like it’s in good shape.

    You really can’t tell what’s going on without cleaning it. All that cake needs to be stripped. If you are unsure how to proceed or have reservations, send it back. If that was sold as being clean, it is not.
