kcghost, Dan, I saw them live a few times in Chicago, great!
In the 90s, they were part of a group that did a concert for Bob Gibson, of which Hamilton (Bob) Camp was a part. I got to speak to them all after the concert. All very nice people.
Thanks!
Yes, it's dark red, with a bone screw-in stem.
A really nice pipe for a Frank. It's always been kept in its original Frank pipe case. It was broken at the bowl/tenon line, but my father had it expertly repaired. I think he bought it in the late 1940s-early 1950s. I've been smoking it...
I just finished another wonderful ZOOM meeting with my pipe buds. Fun conversation and camaraderie. I smoked my father's old Frank pipe, a bulldog with gold tone designs of playing card symbols, filled with Samovar. This is a great old smoker. Peach/Mango Green Tea with a fistful of bergs and a...
My wife and I attended our church's annual Golf Outing (we don't golf but love the Greek BBQ dinner served in the late afternoon). It was a beautiful balmy afternoon and evening.
After dinner I enjoyed a bowl of Kramer's Blend for Cary Grant in my Peterson Arklow 80S. A couple of G&Ts...
We had another fabulous weather day in Chicago. I took my crossword puzzle, a Micallef Torsedores cigar, and a snifter of Gentleman Jack out to the gazebo and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon.
There were just a few of us on the Saturday ZOOM meeting, but the conversation was Olympic. I smoked my old Big-Ben Commodore 426 filled with some vintage Country Squire Rivendell. A tall tumbler of Peach/Mango Green Tea with a splash of Honey Jack and a fistful of bergs was my beverage.
condorlover1 and xrundog,
I wrote an article about the A.D.P. pipe in the Sherlock Holmes story "Silver Blaze" and of its relation to Adolph Posener, that appeared in the Spring 2019 Baker Street Journal and in the April 2020 The Pipe Collector. Here is an excerpt that will help answer your...
During our Saturday ZOOM meeting the usual tobacco and pipe talk ensued. But a wonderfully nostalgic discussion of the cars we owned and drove, back in the day, was a fun sidebar.
I smoked some 6-year-old Lancer's Slices in my Peterson Sherlock Holmes Strand - a gift from my wife, purchased at...
I've had long Covid tongue for over a year. It affects the taste buds at the tip of my tongue, but I can pretty much taste everything, with a bit less intensity. It's just annoying, not critical. I can still enjoy a bowl, all the aroma and most of the taste.
Ramblin' Jack Eliott is 93 today!
Here he is performing "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" in 2011, at 80 years old, preceded by the usual "Jack ramble" about learning the song.
