Btw here is how my pipes look after a couple of bowls and without the fancy lighting setup.... It pisses me off that I ended up being know as the Shine Suzie....
Ok I can't seem to find my callipers, so there might be a. +- 1mm difference

Even though I find the finish ugly as hell too, let's not forget that if it's here on this thread, it's probably someone's favorite pipe... So hunting down all posts of Savinelli alligators just to comment on how much you dislike the finish isn't the most polite thing you can do. 😊
I am going through a lot a purchased today and this guy is giving me some trouble...i get Nada online. For context the lot was mainly handmade Italian high grades.
Sorry for the bad photos but today was supposed to my day off and here I am in bed IDing and dating pipes🤦🏼♂️
I have been a fan of Parker since the beginning and I was surprised to see that they offered high grades as well. Being dunhill seconds, don't blocks like this belong to a dunhill line, even if it's not one of the higher grade ones?
Yes i still have the pipe, I will take some measurements for you when I get back home. Fair warning though - they will be in units that make sense, so you will have to do your own conversions😂
@AusTex1604 thank you so much for your input on the line! No matter if what Savinelli said was true or not, you provided a lot more info than what I managed to find so far online. I am already used to the idea that most things about pipes are bound to be anecdotal and not 100% factually proven...
I actually like it when companies do these crafty things - if it was a great pipe to begin with and the only problem was a very small blemish, them good for them for figuring out a way to show off the pipe in the best light possible.
This is mostly because of tarrifs - from what I understand, any commercial goods or even gifts with a value of over 100$ should be impossible to be sent from Germany to the US... Unless you know a private individual in Germany, who has a questionable respect for authority and would send you...
Ok my process has changed a bit since this post, but yes it's the more faded mustard color one. It is a very fine and oily one and used very lightly and for a short amount of time on a very soft and slow wheel? I wouldn't even call it proper buffing, since it doesn't take away almost any...
Ok I thought I was over my bent Rhodesian obsession and even though I already took out my " restorer's tax" pipes from the lats batch, i just kept looking at this at this pipe I just have to keep it... Especially since I can't seem to find any information on the line, it makes even more...
By the way, here is a fun dating tip - if you see this Huber stamp on any pipe, the pipe was made before 1984. I am not sure how relevant is this information for the US market, but here it proves to be quite handy for non dunhill pipes
