What are You Watching? [2025] Please Rate 1-5

Binging on "Father Brown." Episodes score mostly 5 but, can run a low as 2.

    What are You Reading Now?

Battle Cry, much as I admire Uris, too much cry and insufficient battle. Still, not a bad read though.

    Insulating qualities of bowl material

Not near as important as the smoker's handling of the tobacco and smoking technique. Briar, meer and cobs have all proven their worth as smoking pipes. Why not just learn to load a proper blend and smoke? No need to over-think a relatively simple process, load, light and go. Hard to improve...

    Smoking, Grilling, and BBQ

Poke 'em with a fork a couple of times, roll them in bacon fat then coarse salt, been posting that recipe for a few years here when it seems time. Best potatoes ever! Skin is crispy, salt explodes in the mouth and the meat is soft, flavorful. I iterate, Best baked potato ever. Oh, never...

    Cooking Bacon

Good on you! The key to beef which needs no added sauces and such! Well done! bdw 🤩 In my opinion, Irish beef is the finest in the world. Small farms, carefully managed, and the beef available a short distance down the road. I had a favorite wee shop where the proprietor only sold his...

    Black Friday Shopping

You need her to look after all of your needs. My wife, rest her soul, was prohibited from buying tobacco for me. She chose her wines based on the look of of the label for crying out loud!

    Cooking Bacon

I want to taste the grass when I eat beef. So....not controversial at all. Not a fan of finishing with grain and I can thoroughly enjoy, when I can find it, beef from an older steer. I'm a fan of A-1 but, only on the side to dip an occasional bite into. Everyone to their own taste. A...

Ends of the Bowls Getting Acrid

Quit the bowl if it becomes unsatisfactory. Seems obvious. It's what I do. Emptym reload and go about my work. Problem solved!

    Cooking Bacon

I've had rashers in Canada, England and the Irish Republic. It's all in what you order. "Back" bacon or rashers, there's usually a choice especially in tourists center. American bacon is the smokiest but, English bacon is smoked a bit. Canadian bacon is strictly "back" bacon and never smoked.

Do the research. Then, go live there for a bit if you can afford to. Dip into your savings if necessary. Hopefully you do save a bit every month. No point in moving somewhere blind.

    So Much Information Everywhere, Yet..

No meddling at all. The allies were the victors, the Germans were the conquered. Military governance was required indeed, charged with such duties by their bosses, Truman, Churchill (for a short term and de Gaulle. The Germans were properly subjugated as determined by the winning side...

    So Much Information Everywhere, Yet..

Lots of "low hanging fruit" appearing. No, it's obvious, almost painfully, sadly true.
