    Proposed UK tobacco ban

Cocaine? Yes Bombs? Yes Lethal chemicals? Yes Bombs and lethal chemicals are already widely available. Nicotine and bleach are "lethal chemicals". Even water can be lethal in large doses. Every 4th of July the are literally millions of bombs sold in the US. This all goes back to our...

    Deer hunting

Absolutely. Depending on hunting pressure and time of the season. Later in the season in a moderate to heavily hunted area, even the chick's won't USUALLY bring out the big guys. But, every so often, even they make mistakes. But, probably 99% of the hunters ive known have never seen a HUGE, old...

    Deer hunting

Absolutely. If I hunted our yard deer, the bucks would be much calmer with the pipe smoke because they have smelled it 100s of times. But the "wild" bucks are extremely sensitive to anything new. That said...... My very first buck ever was a big 8 point, about 40 pounds larger than the one I got...

    An Unusual Crack

Bow ties are a very popular method in woodworking. Not sure about the repeated heating and cooling though.

    Deer hunting

Big bucks are extremely skittish. They get old and big because they are careful. The vast majority of hunters never even see a truly big buck. Any aroma out of the ordinary will spook them. Ive seen it too many times unfortunately. :(

    Deer hunting

Im a meat hunter, not an antler hunter....and hanging a head on my wall is just creepy. That said, you never will get a monster if you're smoking, pissing, or being pleasured. There is a reason 95%+ of deer hunters never tag a monster buck. Ive had big bucks smell me from 100 yards. And that's...

Show Us Your Knife (And Pipe)

Years ago I left Bark River Gameskeeper in A2 steel stuck in a tree in remote Alaska. After returning to our cabin, I realized I left the knife. This was in 2008 or so. The 8 hour round trip back to the spot was out of the question. There is a near zero percent chance anyone will ever find it...

    So Much Information Everywhere, Yet..

I believe many people are looking for informed opinions, so they can form their own opinion. An internet query doesn't necessarily give opinions....informed or not. Questions for opinions I get. But I also get the annoyance of fact based questions. In my experience, about 95% of questions asked...

Pipe Blend Ponderings by a Grumpy Old Man Who Doesn't Like Anything

I am the opposite. I fall in love with many blends. But, I do not buy tons of EVERYTHING I love. There are only a few ive stocked deep.....MacBaren Va#1, SOTE, PS LNF, PS Balkan Supreme, Pegusus, 5100...... The others I have anywhere from a couple ounces to a pound of.

    I Remember When..........

I remember going to the local marina and buying cigarettes out of a machine for 75 cents. We were maybe 12 years old, but the marina owner would break a dollar for us. :)

    I Remember When..........

Just the other day I was telling some friends how in 1986, at 15 years old, I rode my horse to work at an Amish cheese factory 5 days a week. We only made "farmers" cheese. It was like a cross between mozzarella and Ricotta. People came from all over to buy it. It was completely tasteless and...

    Why are some pipes “expensive”?

Name, rarity, and craftsmanship all account for price. Many of the master carvers make as few as 25 pipes a year. Some makers pump out 5 pipes a week. The cost of materials has almost nothing to do with price, or "worth". There are carvers that people wait in line for years to get a pipe from...

Show Us Your Knife (And Pipe)

There is a well known knife guy named Ben Peterson. He worked for Blade HQ for years. He was one of their youtube guys. Then he went to work for WE knives, which include Civivi and Sencut. I met him at Blade Show West years ago, and we became friends. Its impossible to not like Ben. Look him up...

    Chatgtp

I just asked AI why AI is wrong a lot. I have to say, the AI is very aware of its shortcomings. It lists a dozen reasons why AI can give incorrect information. :) This may be ONE area where AI is superior to humans!

    Chatgtp

But, ask the question a different way. Same exact AI, but a different question. NOW it says you CAN use a handgun for deer hunting. Ive been handgun hunting white tail deer in NYS sinse 1992 when I got my pistol permit. I have no idea where AI got the idea you cannot use a handgun for deer in...

    Chatgtp

A friend sent me this the other day asking, "what the actual F*CK is this from Al??". He was asking AI if it was legal to hunt deer with a glock 20. Almost every single word is incorrect. Please DONT trust AI for anything important. First of all, you absolutely CAN use a handgun for deer in...

    Came in Today!

Very good deal, and a stand up guy. Ive told this story before, but here it is again. My very first ebay pipe purchase was a small, ugly, bald briar with a Delrin stem. It was a "buy it now" for $24 with free shipping. The seller was from South Africa. The pipe made it here to NYS in 48 hours...

    Presentation of a new user

There seems to be a small but vocal group of Italians who dont much like Sicilians. I believe its a culture thing that was much more "popular" in decades past. Again, this is from stuff I read while researching Sicily after I found out my ancestors MAY be from Sicily.....or Southern Italy. The...

    Presentation of a new user

Welcome! Ive never been to Italy, but have an urge to visit. I recently found out I am 52% Italian after doing one of those Ancestry DNA tests. My sister bought the tests for herself, my brother and me....we were all adopted. I postponed the test for over a year, but eventually gave in. Anyways...
