What Are You Drinking? October 2025

Nice stuff this, vibrant, punchy and very fruity but with lovely wisps of smoke, long finish.

    Newminster 403 vs. 400

I don’t care for 400 at all, I can see the appeal, caramel apple strudel aromatic Virginia, the batches I’ve tried were just far too topped for my tastes. 403 on the other hand is fantastic with no less than 3 years, under that and it’s sharp, a little smoky and not sweet. Now with age, and if...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

Heard that, I keep 62rh bovedas but my temp has been running hot this summer around 74 unfortunately so my box is reading pretty wet at 68rh. Some of my smokes like Plasencia and Foundation do well and taste good up there but Aganorsa and Aladino and others got to be 62 or under for me, so next...

What Cigar Are You Smoking? 2025

The claudes sound good, says the criollo 98 was aged 6 years. I like the lonsdales , each one seems to give a different experience tho, this one was spicier than any I’ve had before, last time was sweeter with graham cracker goin. Been dry boxing them a week, and they smoke and taste a lot...

Jim's Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2025 Review.

I could have sworn Dawn was topped too, got a very tamarind like note from the tin and smoke like the tamarind on some of Bernard’s snuffs, amazed if that’s coming naturally off the various grades indeed then.

    Mold?

I knew I might have some shiny Sutliff flake examples still, so I went through my cellar earlier and found two jars with a couple flakes left in each, on the left Sutliff Crumble Kake : Red VA , on the right Cringle Flake, both from 2022, and opened in 2023. Both had black paper hats that were...

    Mold?

If you would have left the black paper insert out of the post the general consensus would have clearly been “NOT mold,” however those black paper hats are an anomaly in of themselves as Sutliff has even admitted to and sought to change after issues peaked with the 2022 Cringle release. I noticed...

    Mold?

Well yea, and double extra convinced since you say there is no foul smell. You could always jar it for a few months and see if it spreads, which mold would but this is not. Whatever it is it will not hinder your enjoyment or give you cooties, so why wait.

    Mold?

Just wondering to myself how many people have tossed perfectly fine tobacco due to Sutliffs using of black paper inserts with their casing style. Smoke on!
