    Sub-Scale - Mini Pipes

I have made a few. A bent Billiard, a bent Dublin, and a straight Billiard. All just at 4" long. If you want to go smaller I have a 5/8" chamber bit now and can make makes that are easily smaller than what I have made in the past. They'll even come with handcut stems. ;-)

Today is the last day to get the show room rate at the Argosy! Do not wait any longer to book your rooms! The Argosy has sold out every weekend since they opened (this is no joke). They will be opening reservations up to the general public come tomorrow. Call the Argosy at 816-746-3100 and...

    Freehands Are Passe?

Cosmic- You are absolutely right about the stems on most freehands. It's as if the stem is an afterthought. IMO that is the biggest mistake a pipemaker can make. The stem must be an integral part of the design from the very beginning. I will go as far as to say that the stem is MORE...

    Freehands Are Passe?

Cosmic- Trends aside, what makes their freehands (and classics) so good is that they have studied and therefore understand lines and flow (they have also adjusted their product to the market trends). So when they make a freehand it doesn't look like a huge blob with a stem or a pipe that is...

    Freehands Are Passe?

Cosmic- your experience isn't untrue. However all three of the men you mentioned could (and do) make all the classic shapes and make them quite well.

    Danish Freehands

This thread was started 7 months ago. You are going to publicly trash a retailer for not wanting to carry your pipes after only 7 months of pipemaking? Bad form. It was 3 years before I had my first retailer (Thanks Smoker's Haven) and it has only been since May that Smokingpipes picked me...

    Freehands Are Passe?

As always, Todd has hit the nail on the head. As much as it may pain some to hear.

The Chicagoland International Pipe & Tobacciana Show 2017

This was the second year I have attended and it was a blast! And for those of you who don't know, I beat Manduela AND Rie to bring the Women's Division Slow Smoke Contest title back to the good ol' USofA!! One of the two of them has won it for about 8 years now so it was no small feat...

    Piersel Commission: Reverse Calabash Tulip

Brian really tested my abilities with this pipe. I don't have a metal lathe and turning rings is a challenge most of the time. Thanks to a dowel I turned into a jamb chuck and a lot of hot glue to hold the ring on while I turned it I think it turned out really well. It doesn't hurt that Juma is...

    My Scottie Piersel Commission

I would also add that the stainless steel tenon will get dirty over time. To keep the fit of the stem as it should be just give the tenon a bit of a buff when you clean the pipe. @jpmcwjr- I sent you a pm regarding your pipe. Scottie

7 Day Set by Scottie Piersel

Bigpond- I don't rusticate pipes. I have never really gotten the urge.

7 Day Set by Scottie Piersel

This set is one of the funnest things I have done in the past 4 years! We had a bit of fun with the stem and stain colors and I think they turned out great. We used a ivory juma ring to tie the pipes together as a set. All-in-all I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out and Jon was...
