    Soap Taste When Smoking Virginia

Your mouth might be ghosted. Instead of cleaning the pipe with alcohol……… But seriously even if you don’t get pain you may have inflammation or a buildup on your tongue. Do you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth.

Unlikely to Ever Get to Try Penzance

I think I like Sobranie a little better than Penzance. They are both good and aged enough to be good fresh. Most Germain blends are pretty good fresh. They do get better with age but don’t change like Gawith stuff. (both houses)

    Cob Draw

I leave the filter out for that wide open draw. I like to use extra fluffy pipe cleaners. If you don’t like using pipe cleaners you’re better off leaving the filter in.

    Filters

I prefer filter less pipes with the exception of my cobs. I like the ones that take a medico filter. I don’t use it but it makes it easier to pass an extra fluffy cleaner. I usually don’t use a filter in my 9mm Stan well featherweight but it smokes better with one. The extra space that the pipe...

Researching Inherited Pipes for the Family

Photos please. Also don’t overlook PaPa’s old tins of tobacco. They could be worth more than the pipes.

    Mortise Muck

Do you go back to bed and roll around after taking a shower? Is that how much you like a well seasoned mortise?

    Mortise Muck

I think a clean shank is preferable to a mucky mortise. Clean mortise is wonderful and not to be underrated.

    Meerschaum Coloring: Bogus?

I think they color but mostly from moisture wicking tars and other darks in the smoke. I think that’s why the bowl is last to color.

    How Often Do You Smoke?

If you’re using desire as a palette cleanser, the misses must be a very happy woman as much as you smoke.

    Could this be Fixed?

If it’s stable and seals leave it alone. If it’s cracking use waxed paper or plastic between the stem and shank, pack the void with baking soda, then apply super glue to the baking soda. It will harden almost instantly. Gotta have that waxed paper or plastic or you’ve glued the stem in forever.

To Coat or Not to Coat

I prefer very little cake. I think my briars smoke cleaner without or with very little.

    About Filters

I prefer not to use a filter. I like to run a pipe cleaner down to the bowl several times during a smoke and filters get in the way. I try them on occasion and wind up hitting them with a pipe cleaner. Can’t remember I’m using a filter and habit takes over.

HH Rustica vs HH Bold Kentucky

I would expect the Rustica to be stronger nicotine wise. Haven’t had it to tell you firsthand.

    Stingers and Dottle

I prefer a pipe cleaner to pass all the way to the bottom of the bowl. Otherwise I have moisture collect there.
