Finally Had My First Pipe Smoke Today

Welcome to the Brotherhood of the Briar. You'll find there's a lot more variety in pipe tobacco than in cigars. There's a lot to choose from. You can get a great pipe for around a hundred from Stanwell, Peterson or Savinelli. Cheers,

    Quarterly Pipe Cleaning

I'll take a pipe from the rack for the day, smoke three or four bowls. After each smoke I'll use a dry cleaner, front and back, to clean the airway. Before I rack up the pipe, following its last use, I'll dip a cleaner in ISO, clean the air way, repeat with the other end, bend in half and clean...

What's Going To Be Your First Bowl Of 2014?

mso - Nat Sherman's 536 is an excellent smoke. When I first tried it, I wasn't too impressed. Run of the mill English. But last week I popped the lid on a three old Ball jar I had in storage, and BAM! It's aged into a truly magical smoke. A really nice blend!

Black House, Magnum Opus, Legends, Wilderness

I would add to that list Star of the East and Abingdon. Both really fine Lat forward blends. I live on these two and prefer them over the ones listed by the OP. Both age remarkably well too.

Obsidian Oil, A Warning From My Experiance

I used to use Obsidian Oil. Now I just use olive oil or mineral oil. Cheaper and easier to get. Brebbia stem polish works well to clean oxidation.

    Youtube Posters

No, but I just started posting on Facebook and Google Plus. After all these years of abstaining, I thought I'd try them out. Surprised to see a lot of pipe groups there. Using the same avatar I'm using here, but under my real name. Going public with my pipe tales. Lol.

    WWII and Tobacco Pipe Smoking

Yes, thanks gents, for contributing. Outstanding photos, and background captions, as well. This period of history has long held my attention. Pipes and tobacco provided the simple pleasures of home for the men in the field, lending whatever measure of solace to those forced to face the unthinkable.
