Has anybody ordered those blends from overseas tobacco shops? If so, what has your experience been with customs, import duties, etc.?

    Supporting a B&M

fitzy, many thanks. I just called Payless and talked to Ed (real nice guy). He is sending me some Penzance. As a matter of fact, he just emailed me the tracking number. I'm looking forward to trying it after all I've heard about it. Thanks again.

    Pipes Made From Antlers

You can make a pipe bowl out of all kinds of material, but msot probably would smoke horribly. From what is being said here, it sounds like antler is one of those. I'll stick with the three main tried and true materials; briar, meerschaum, corncob and some of the others like cherry, pear and clay.

    Time To Admit The Truth

Harris that's averaging around 13 to 15 posts a day! I always enjoy your posts and those of many others on the forum, including those of some of the new members.

    Supporting a B&M

I agree with what you're saying, hunter185. The two B&M's that I deal with do have a mail order business which they want to expand. They prefer doing it mostly over the phone instead of the internet, so they can have some interaction with the customer. It takes a little more time than clicking...

    Supporting a B&M

It sure was, Coalsmoke. Being right next to the Yale campus and across the street from the Shubert Theater, where all Broadway plays first started out, I wonder how many famous people went through those doors over the years.

How Often Do You Have to Smoke a New Pipe to Break It In?

I have always taken my time breaking in a new pipe. I always start with several bowls a quarter full and gradually work my way up to a full bowl. I am a believer in that method as the best way to get a good even cake all the way to the bottom of the bowl and it works that way for me. I always...

    Supporting a B&M

I got an email on my phone at 12:20 this afternoon saying smokingpipes had Penzance in stock. This time I jumped on it real quick and called 4 minutes after getting the message. All gone! Later, I called The Owl Shop in Worcester, MA and ordered four of their blends, Patterson's Mixture...

Snagged a New Mastro De Paja off Ebay

Nice looking pipe, Number6. I bought an estate one off Ebay a few months ago and find it to be a great smoking pipe. It gives a dry smoke, similiar to my Ascortis. I prefer vulcanite stems, but can live with an acrylic stem if it's well shaped and on a good smoking pipe.

    Boswell Poker On the Way

Nice looking pipe. Happy smoking! From what I have been seeing on this forum, pokers are more popular than I thought.
