Hello, Yes... I have purchased several different Savinellis' over the past month (7) and they still need to be smoked-in for a good taste. I also like to use a dab of honey in a new bowl to sweeten it to my liking... that's just my personal ritual and not everyone likes the honey dab. Cheers- kbussell

My issue is that I can never tell how far I have smoked the bowl down... and I have read posts that make me apprehensive of smoking it all the way to the bottom and have shied-off of too much tamping. Breaking in a New Pipe
Hi, I have a new morta churchwarden, and I understand that morta does not need to be broken-in (?). Would you still dab it with honey? I also have a new Savinelli 606... do I just rub a dab of honey in the chamber and proceed, packing the bowl to 1/3 at the start to begin building a good base...- kbussell

Hello, I just ordered a Morta Wizard (Churchwarden) from MacQueen Pipes of Ontario, and it should arrive this Thursday. I am very excited, as I have always wanted a churchwarden pipe! I am also very interested to try smoking a pipe of morta wood. I smoke my own blend of Hobbit's Weed pipe...- kbussell
