Cherrywoods ...\"like they used to was.\"

I think if you stopped now, it'd be good. It looks interesting with the unfinished bowl and the bark on the shank. The color of the stem really sets it off. Then again, a nice dark stain wouldn't be a mistake either.

    Welcome new members. Introduce yourselves.

Hi Frosty/Chris, Like Phil said, don't be bashful if you've got a question. This place is full of people that would be glad to help. Most importantly, the sooner you know the cause of a problem you may have, the faster you'll be enjoying your pipe to its potential. Nice to have you here, so go...

    Looking for that tobacco...

I don't know how sensitive you are to burley, but Mac Baren Navy Flake supposedly has it, not that I can tell. Like Arthur recommended, the Plum Cake would probably be a good start, along with Dark Twist Roll Cake. If you're wanting a dry smoke with a light casing and a great room note, Mac...

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

PA in a Big Ben dublin. I won $25 on a gifted $2 scratch-off and went for a drug store trifecta today with a pouch each of PA, Carter Hall, and Sir Walter Raleigh. This month's "What are you smoking?" thread is several pages longer than February's. That might have something to do with the way...

The Joke Thread: Not Safe For Work (NSFW)

What's eighteen inches long, purple, and guaranteed to make the ladies scream?........ Crib death.

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

Awesome, Ghost. Are we to take it that you're smoking Captain Black in a Ben Wade? I don't remember that commercial, but there was a cool Kodiak commercial from when I was a kid. A guy was standing next to bear that was raised up on his haunches and said "Kodiak, the only bear you'll ever...

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

Some Cob Plug in a Duca Carlo earlier. Quit with a small bit of dottle left because I knew the niccups were just around the corner. P.S., I have Furandfeather to thank for the word "niccups".

Nice pipe JC. From Photo Bucket, you can right click on the picture and copy the image location. From there, you click the image button in the reply box and paste the image. What's easiest is from the album page on Photo Bucket, when you hover the mouse over the picture and the little fields...

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

Agreed. The burley is definitely in there and makes itself known but there are a few other things competing. Since it's a mixture of so many different blends, I've been noticing the tastes of different tobaccos all the way through the bowl. In short, it's probably luck of the draw on what you'll...

    Tropical Bob...

I looked up the term "Tropical Bob" and this was the first link: Tropical Bob Animation I'm getting faced later this week and I'll probably wind up passing out in front of the computer looking at all this Tropical Bob stuff and listening to the Pogues.

    Tropical Bob...

Tropical Bob is the man. A commenter on one of his videos said he looked like Josef Fritzl of Austrian incest fame. Poor guy. Around the 2:30 mark of this video is another one of his ideas. I'd be tempted to ramp it up a level and not only have nicotine, but add a rag soaked in ether for some...

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

I saw a blog post about old time drug store blends and the author mentioned Cruise Line. It sounds like something that'd be good to try. Nice to see you back, Mick.

    Tropical Bob...

There's a guy with a video blog on Youtube named Tropical Bob. His videos are all about different ways to save money on nicotine delivery. This guy really thinks up some crafty and sometimes borderline hare-brained ideas. His manner of speaking and approaches to saving a buck make him one of my...

    PAD Purchases

I've got a Duca Carlo and an Oscar that are both chambered for filters. I bought an adapter also, oddly, it only fits in the Oscar. I just recently used it again in the Oscar and it smokes fine with or without it. I think as far as the balsa filters go, I may have used them as many as two times...

    PAD Purchases

Phil, My first "real" pipe without a filter chamber or stinger was a Big Ben. It's a nice little Dublin that despite its size, smokes forever. It's hard to find a Big Ben that isn't a filter pipe but I'd wager that the ones that are chambered for them probably smoke as good as a Savinelli. I'm...

    Three Nuns

Here's a copy/paste of an earlier comment of mine regarding 3 Nuns: "Something I'm kicking my ass over today is a mistake I made when I first began RYO. There was a tin right next to the RYO tobaccos on the shelf at my B&M and it looked cool, so I bought it along with my other tobacco. The tin...

March 2010 - What are you smoking?

About to enjoy some 1776 Tavern myself. The sample price was good, no so much on the regular going rate of $75.55 for 14oz. I'll be doing business with Sterling, just not on that particular blend. (I thought Rattray's was high at $72 a pound!)

That's the group I was thinking of when I mentioned making a meer group here. I lurk mostly at SF and there's so many threads and members, I didn't recognize you off the bat. The ATM group at Smoker's Forum has TONS of information, for anyone who's curious... All Things Meerschaum Group at...
