Florida Pipe Smokers - Ybor City Cigar Festival November 8

I’m at University and Lockwood Ridge. Do you have a favorite spot to smoke a bowl?

Florida Pipe Smokers - Ybor City Cigar Festival November 8

You live in Sarasota? I do as well. I know a couple pipers locally. Do you do anything locally or just at Edwards? A few of us trek to Edwards annually but I wasn't aware of a local group per se...

Do You Associate Pipe Smoking with a Sense of Spirituality?

Does self discipline mean smoking in a disciplined manner or total abstinence?

    Cobs

I have “burnt out” only one cob ever, and it was a bad cob bowl. Missouri Meerschaum sent me a free replacement. I have over 50 cobs and they improve with use. They are not quite as durable as a briar but do last quite well over time. They require less upkeep than briar pipes. You owe it to...

    Solitary or Social Smoker?

Social when possible. Have a largish number of pipe and cigar smoking brethren, but it’s not always easy to make time. Most memorable smokes are always at out quarterly BBQ’s, and the occasional card game or trip to a cigar bar. Blessed to have a fantastic one close. Also do an annual pilgrimage...

    Keeping Pipes in Cars

I always have at least one Van pipe. Live in Florida. No sub zero winter temps but 100+ degree days frequently and abundant humidity. I usually stick to Morgan Bones pipes or naked Tinsky’s. Never a problem! Never without a smoke either😃

    Bent or Straight Stem?

As a part of your pipe journey, it’s important to try both at length. They smoke similarly overall. I have straight pipes of varying lengths, and all manner of bent pipes from 1/4 bent to full bent. The mood, activities, blend all affect the pipe I reach for. Variety is the spice of life.

    Putting my Pipes Away

I find it ludicrous that pot smoking is being deregulated even as tobacco is being more restricted.

    Putting my Pipes Away

I would posit that those figures apply more to cigarette smoking. Although still there, pipes and cigars pose far less risk and result in only a trivial % of those figures. Eating fried and processed foods, white sugar, gmo foods, sodas, and artificial sweeteners cost exponentially more...

    A One Pipe Man....

Having only one would make my life easier… I did sell off a lot, cut back from 70+ briars to about 15. Somehow crept back closer to 25 and trying hard not to acquiesce to PAD again. Smoking only one, even if wiped out frequently, diminishes the experience for me. They get wet and stay that...

    Peterson's Bard

I think you bought that one right out of my cart! I sat on the idea for too long. The 68 was the only shape I liked. Enjoy!

    Peterson’s Chamber Coating - What A Mess!

I purchased a 2021 Christmas pipe. The bowl coating looked a mess. I sanded it out, except for a tiny bit about the draft hole.

    Colored Stems

I don’t have many, but enjoy those I do. Life is too short to stick to all black stems!

Savinelli Grezza 114 ks - Billiard (New Stem Needed)

It looks like a 6mm filter is possible, many of the listings for the 114KS are 6mm. Is yours “unfiltered” because it was a grezza series pipe?

New Orleans Pipe Show Change of Venue

I'd like to ask a favor of someone going to the New Orleans show. You can pm me. There's something I'd like to have that's available only at the show, likely under $20. I'll remit funds before you ship...

Making a pipe stand How do you cut the nice even ovals for the bowls to sit in?

I have wondered the same thing. Plunging that forstner bit twice to the same depth but a small distance apart would yield that oval with a little cleanup...
