What Are Your Favorite Nicotine Bombs?

Being a converted RYO smoker, I like very strong blends. In the morning I usually smoke GH Happy Bogie and my evening smoke is GH Dark Plug. During the day I smoke GH Dark Bird Eye. The only thing that almost gives me spins is SG Bracken Flake. I believe, it's the strongest of all.

Show Off Your Zulu, Woodstock and Yacht

Zulu is my favourite shape. I rarely smoke other pipes from my collection. Here's my Zulu garden: Peterson Aran, Irish Seconds, three Parkers 42 (best and most often used of all), two Comoy's Woodstock (remember that recent eBay giveaway for $30?), Kiko Tanganyika, Hardcastle's Regency and...

    Pipes And Prayer

I think it all depends of intention. If you are smoking and suddenly feel a wish to pray, then of course you shouldn't discard your prayer just because you're holding a pipe in your hand. But when you plan to pray in an "organised" manner then I believe all other things must be put aside...

    Inhaling?

I'm a nicotine-addicted former roll-your-own smoker. When lighting up the pipe, I inhale several puffs to quickly satisfy my nic crave. And then I smoke.

Pipe Shape You Never Buy, Or Finally Did

No wonder Brits disliked poor old Oom Paul in that article. After all, they brutally conquered his country in the Boer War. I never buy anything but Zulus. They seem to me like most natural and comfortable shape. Somehow I own several other shapes, Oom Paul inclusive. What I wouldn't even own...

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

I think for an allergy you might try some anti-allergic pils. Vitamins are said to work just for Burning Mouth Syndrome, which is vitamine/microelements deficiency state, not an allergy. I bought a multivitamin containing all B-vitamins together, like B2, B6 and B12.

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

Well, today I tried the "flame-teasing" method with several pipes. It worked like a charm. I apply the flame (directed soft butane flame) to the top of the tobacco for like 7 secs till the upper layer completely dries out. Then two shallow draws are enough to light up the tobacco. No torturous...

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

Yes, it's exactly what it seems to be from Google, lack of B-vitamins. If only N-vitamin could substitute it... :) Will try taking B12 and the "fire-teasing" method. Hopefully that helps

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

Sounds good, I will try this method on my next pipe. Besides the pain, I always hate to overheat the tobacco as I feel that it somehow looses its nicotine strength when overheated from the start (I guess, nicotine is just burning off instead of being evaporized into the system).

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I actually don't do anything new which I haven't been doing for the last five or six years since I fully mastered the habit: same technique, same tobaccos (mostly VaPers, DFC and KYs, as I prefer stronger stuff), same cadence. And yet, suddenly this burning...

Body Chemistry Change. Has Anyone Else Experienced That?

Hello gentlemen, I've been a pipe smoker for the last eight years. The last three of four months I notice a strangest change: whatever I smoke gives me a noticeable amount of tongue bite. It's not about puffing cadence or choice of blends (those have been the same for all previous years of...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Well, here's the happy end of the sad story. After some 20 pipefuls of heavy Latakias (like SG Commonwealth and Balkan Flake) the pipe is finally free of any mold odor and is an excellent smoker now. The invisible hairline-crack that goes no further than 1/8" past the nickel ring on the shank...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

For sure, I'm not sillier than those advising to return the product. If I was in the US, nobody would have even heard of my issues on this thread. I would instantly return the stinky purchase and the problem is solved. And if I was unable to benefit from the customer service program then there...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Unfortunately I can't ship the pipe because I'm living abroad right now and got it here by international mail. If I was in the US I would of course have immediately returned it for replacement to the pipe shop. But sending it back from here will be WAY too expensive. The crack is slight and the...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Damn all this. Just found the shitty thing slightly cracked under the nickel ring. For sure it's because the metal ring didn't let the wood to expand while it was being soaked in various liquids. The $100 pipe goes into garbage. Won't even bother to sell it online for a tiny fraction of price...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Well, finally comes the full report. Perhaps it might be of use for those unfortunate to buy a moldy pipe and have no chance to return it. I've tried the full array of options except of ozoning. It was indeed a useful experience to try and compare them all. - 1 day salt-n-alco treatment (no...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Thank you for your suggestions, mayfair70. Yes, I felt a bit uncomfortable to apply various cleaning liquids like alcohol, vinegar and peroxide. But Aran doesn't have any lacquer finish, just stained polish, so no damage occurred. I think Latakia or Lakelands could be a good quick solution but...

Mold Odor in a New Pipe, How to Get Rid Of?

Well, you don't know why you bother but I think I guess why. You bother to have a precious occasion to scream "WOUH HOUUUUUUH". Apparently you need such kind of relieve. Who am I to judge other people's personal expressions. Maybe they need that. And I need to restore my pipe. Which is...
