    Czech Pipes

Dan Tobacco Manufacturing make most of Stanislaw-branded tobacco blends (another OEM manufacturer for Stanislaw being Kohlhase & Kopp). Dan Pipes may well be the producers of Stanislaw pipes as well.

    Czech Pipes

Search for Stanislaw branded pipes. Josef Stanislaw is a Czech distributor who sells OEM tobaccos and pipes, often under his own brand. None of the pipes are made in Czechia proper (hopefully, they're made in Germany, as are all of Stanislaw tobaccos) but it's a legitimate Czech brand, well...

Do's and Don'ts of Estate Meerschaum Buying

That's true. But with a meerschaum, you see well those beautiful hues which (partly) consist of spit and skin oils of some (probably dead) guy. Yuckity yuck. As much as I like meers, I would never want to get an estate, even as a gift.

Upside Down Pipe Storage on Rack

I've heard the other way round: don't store your pipe bowl down because spit and tar would flow down from the stem and mortise and swamp your bowl long after the smoke. I have racks of both types and store my pipes both ways and haven't noticed any difference to be honest.

    Pesse Canoe?

Well, the tobacco is here, Oriental Broken Flake and Latakia 40 Broken Flake, a 50g pouch of each. Have smoked them both. After I've smoked enough bowls to share the experience, I'll post my reviews here and on tobaccoreviews (where I've already submitted both blends to the database). Just two...

    Greek Tobacco.

I'm sure it's illegal now in Romania as well (most probably it was already technically illegal at the time I was there 12 years back). Gone are the times when smokers in Balkan countries went to local markets and bought local Oriental tobaccos by the scoop from a sack standing on the ground.

    Beware Exploding Lighters!

SPOILER: ...in the final chapter, the arsonist is revealed to be xe! Xe had been systematically and intentionally mis-pronoun-sed by the bigoted him out of envy that xe outbid him on the auction for the mentioned vintage tin of Balkan Sobranie. Burning of her was qualified an unintended...

    Beware Exploding Lighters!

What if different blends were involved in the accident? For example, while he was trying to light up FVF, she preferred Borkum Riff, ze choose Captain Black and xe insisted on cracking open a vintage tin of Balkan Sobranie (how many else of those "inclusive pronouns" have been invented to day?)...

Calabash-shaped Pipe and Real Calabash Gourd Pipe

Used to have a Pioneer Calabash once. Loved its look, didn't like how much empty space was inside it, the huge volume of air plainly duluted and stripped of flavour even the strongest smoke. Sold it and bought a fancy Peterson. I miss my Pioneer sometime, although only as a room decoration...

    Peterson: Royal Yacht, but stronger?

If I was in search for a Royal Yacht substitute I'd choose University Flake. RY & UF aren't the same by any mean but they share some important common features, like strength level and plum flavouring. GH&Co Kendal No7 shag may be even closer substitute because of its cut, but it lacks any sweet...

Differences Among Peterson's: Early Morning Pipe, Nightcap, Mixture 965

If Latakia is optional then Elizabethan Mixture for sure. Strong enough for an after-dinner smoke and full of "autumnal" woody-earthy-leafy flavours.

    Greek Tobacco.

Cased? Do they really case sun-cured Orientals? The guy on the market was selling an array of local cigarette-shred tobaccos by the 200 ml glass. They also claimed to have some fancier Greek and Turkish strains, "he's just not here right now, wait a sec". Farm buy is definitely a much better...

    Greek Tobacco.

Basma and Katherini came first to my mind too. Once I managed to acquire some Greek Basma when travelling through Romania, but it wasn't as straightforward as just going to a tobacco store and ordering a pouch. It was a guy on the market who called another guy not on the market. Wasn't greatly...

    Miracle Cat De-matting Trick

When a child, I was put it on myself. Helped instantly. Noone was lighting a pipe at the moment, thankfully.

    Miracle Cat De-matting Trick

...when you wash your cats with Kerosene and then light your pipe, you cats are guaranteed to go matt-free fot a fairly long time :D For a while you may even be able to brag your cats are of the rare Hairless Breed :D

    Reaming a Meerschaum

Gonna do this tomorrow, the sandpaper method. My Kiko got some ghosted cake in it, need to get rid of that. You don't have to, I'll tell you what I know. When mating, the female lays her tail up on her back covering the quills. The underside of the porcupine tail has no quills, so the male gets...

    Pipe Doesn't Break In

A modern British made Hardcastle's bulldog happened to be my hardest to break in pipe. To break it in, it took maybe 5 times longer than any other of my pipes. I don't know why, probably the quality of wood had something to do with that. I loved the pipe though, so I persevered. Now it's broken...

    Peterson P-Lip Spit Collector

I like my P-Lipped Petes. To me, they give a very comfortable smoke. If anything, I feel P-Lip is less prone to collecting spit as the roof of the palate, against which the P-Lip opening rests, is probably the least spit-producing spot in my mouth. Your Mileage May Vary :ROFLMAO:

    Opinions on "Barrel-Aged" Tobacco

I love Irish Oak! But I really doubt it's been barrel-aged. Barrel aging should result in a pretty inconsistent and unevenly processed product, as the tobacco layer in contact with the barrel walls should understandably soak much higher amount of aromatic compounds than the tobacco in the middle...
