The (Un)Official PipesMagazine Secret Santa Thread 2022!

I am in. Like years past, this is going to be a fun thread to follow. It is so exciting to see what everyone receives. For the record I like virginia and VaPer blends the most.

I Finally "GET IT" After 12 Years

I totally get where you are coming from. I was a consistent pipe smoker for several years and like you enjoyed it; however, I was not enjoying it to the extent of having a transcendent experience. So, about two years ago I just quit smoking my pipes. Then about six months ago, I picked up my...

    Pipe Length Preference?

I am in the 5"-6" camp. I want to like nose-warmers, which I do from an visual stand points, but I just do not like how they smoke.

Your Favorite Third Of The Smoke?

My absolute best smokes are always when I get called away from smoking my pipe. If the tobacco is burning nicely ie. not many relights needed, the flavor is perfect and tobacco is smoking cool, then I can count on some kind of emergency at work, or my wife needing me to help out around the...

Question About History of English Tobacco

Very interesting questions. Hopefully one of our knowledgeable English brethren chime in. Well, actually, I guess they do not need to be English, just truly knowledgeable.

Putting a Pipe Down for Later

I have always found that when I come back to a pipe that was not finished earlier that the smoke is the same and often times it is better. A thought is that you are smoking either too fast or with tobacco that is too wet which is allowing the remaining tobacco to be water logged ruining your...

Your Favorite Third Of The Smoke?

For me, it is the last two thirds. Typically, I have the ember going strong. The flavors are being enjoyed and the pipe is just humming along.. I also almost exclusively smoke VA's and VaPer's and wonder if it would be different if I focused on other categories of tobacco.

The Good Old Days? - New Article by G.L. Pease for September 2022

Very interesting article. I had never thought that it could be difficult to judge pipes of yore by using the estate market. One thought I did have was, since there are certain brands that are more populous on the second hand market then one could possibly be able to make assumptions in regards...

    Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake 2022 Review.

So at the end of the day I was able to get the five tins I wanted from SP. This is my first small batch release. I think I will smoke one tin fresh and cellar the other four for a day down the road.

    Got my First Pipe Today!

I look forward to learning what tobacco was recommended to you. Good job by Phil’s the tobacconist on steering you away from aromatics as a first pipe tobacco.

    Drying aromatics?

10 seconds in the microwave. While I rarely use this method, there times when it works out really well

    What is a "cellar" !

Cellaring is, as stated above, buying tobacco today for future use. Sellering is what you have to do when you buy too much tobacco and have to pay for a divorce attorney. :ROFLMAO:
