I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread and all the input! Organic solvents like benzene and toluene have no place in pipe restoration. Cleaned Up An Ebay Pipe 1-3-24
You should be very proud of that pipe!! Guys have boo-ed using water between sanding to raise the grain on briar. IMO, they’re dead wrong. Can make all the difference, as you have discovered.- Pyrodoc
