    New Pipe Ghosted with 1Q.

1792 Flake or Royal Yacht will kill any ghost dead…

    New Pipe Ghosted with 1Q.

I’m aligned with the “smoke ten bowls” tactic. That said, if you’re not afraid of a small explosion an alcohol retort would help too… — PRuss

    Hi, from Ontario Canada

Greetings. If you’re within an hour’s drive of Oshawa connect with the team at Victory Cigars. They should be able to put you in touch with the Lakeshore Smokestacks which is a pipe club run in Durham Region. They welcome newcomers to their monthly meetings and have lots of helpful folks ready...

    Couple of Pipes Come Home

Pretty nice when a couple kids come home after a long trip abroad. Thanks for sharing, Mike. — PRuss

    Allo from Toronto

Welcome, from a former Toronto boy. in case you haven’t found them yet, check out the Downtown Toronto Pipe Club and The Lakeshore Smokestacks. DTPC had a solid website, the Smokestacks are best found by connecting with the folks who run Victory Cigars in Oshawa. Hope you’re having a good...

    Saving the Stamping

Yep. Those all make good sense. I’ve done similarly when addressing burnouts by drilling them out and plugging them. I’m at the point now, though, that if I see a break or burnout I just move on to another pipe. For me, the return from sale won’t match the investment in time or $$ for that...

    Who Snagged This!?!

When I was hunting, those were one of my favourites. Second only to the awful photo and barely identified mislabeled pipe listing.

    Who Snagged This!?!

    That’s a good buy.

    Saving the Stamping

This is why I fled North America to the South Pacific. So… why do we want to remove stain? It’s usually put on pipes for good reason. Sometimes stain is used to accentuate good grain, or to hide mediocre grain, or to bury fills behind colour. I have never fully stripped a stummel, not in 100s...

    First PAD in Five Years….

Yeah, Jim, agreed on the difference. Your pipes markings and those on my pipe are the same. I still think it’s likely that they are the initials of the silversmith, or perhaps the retailer.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Yep. I’ve seen that before on pipes of the same era; notably BBBs.

So… essentially a store stamp on the sterling. Jon, does this jive? SH on the band referring to Salamon and Hecht? Cheers — Pat

I have it on good authority he has yet another Parks commission underway. smh

    First PAD in Five Years….

How about I sell him a box, and then the two of us have a coffee together: what with us being the only two pipe collectors in Aotearoa.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Me too. I’m pretty sure the box is a late addition.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Pretty sure it’s Birmingham and 1901.

    First PAD in Five Years….

Will do. Truth be told, I’m going to tread lightly on the stem and probably just clean it. I’m also doing everything with hand tools. I don’t have my old setup replicated down here. — PRuss

    First PAD in Five Years….

Yeah, I read that… but I’ve never seen him pass on a Rad. There was a particularly early one that looked like a tampon dispenser with a Cumberland stem that sold a few years back. I have it on good authority that it is in Florida.

The White Goddess and the Black Lord

It’s true, they do, but that ghost is pretty easy to bust… I’m also not likely to smoke Eileen’s Dream or Cherry Anything in it… so I’m totally fine with residual Oriental #40 cross contaminating whatever comes next. I only have the one Weaver… ? But I love it. — PRuss
