    Carey “Magic Inch” Shop Find

You guys convinced me, I will have to try it. I will give it a good alcohol clean and see how I like it. It is a nice looking pipe and probably deserves to be used.

    Carey “Magic Inch” Shop Find

I have seen plenty of pipes without the slots with electrical tape! LOL

    Carey “Magic Inch” Shop Find

Stopped by my local antique shop on the way home. A mix of vintage and shabby chic. There was some pipe stuff but nothing I cared for or was willing to spend. I saw this little pipe and grabbed it for $6. A Carey Magic Inch. I was an impulse buy as it was cheap and looked nice enough, and I...

I May Be A Lovat Pipe Convert

I do tend to be drawn to bent pipes as they appeal to me more and are comfortable. I got this Kaywoodie as it was old and cheap. I enjoy restoring things and it made a good project. I am glad I did as it really opened my eyes to other possibilities and showed me some of the strengths in a...

I May Be A Lovat Pipe Convert

Beautiful pipes Cigrmaster! That makes me want a custom pipe! Most my pipes are seconds or unmarked basket or vintage estate pipes, I do not have any top shelf pipes yet but that is some beautiful work! My new pipes shipped, I can hardly wait. I love that sandblasted Rad and the Howell!

I May Be A Lovat Pipe Convert

I am pretty new to the site but have several pipe styles in my small collection; clay, hand carved, metal and reed, half bent dublin, half bent billiard, demi-churchwarden, Canadian, billiard and just reconditioned what may have opened my eyes. An older Kaywoodie 7740, which I believe is a...

    Whitehall Restore

    Kaywoodie Drinkless Clean-up

Thanks Briar Lee, great history. I have been making notes to keep on my phone of what to look for in the shops. I love that 1930s era for culture, clothing and objects. Thats an interesting perspective on the pipe cost as quality! i appreciate the input Peteguy. i got some new wax and...

    Kaywoodie Drinkless Clean-up

I didn’t top or sand the top at all, just cleaned the gunk off. Maybe topped by a previous owner? I thought it was factory but have a lot to learn on the brands. I am out of Feibings but need to order some new bottles and will give it a stain to help it match better. I just started...

    Whitehall Restore

Just finished up this Whitehall. I found it in the shop for $6 and it has a beautiful piece of burl. It took a good clean, reem, soak and wax but came out nice. I will let it dry for a few days before smoking, but hoping it smokes as good as it looks!

    Kaywoodie Drinkless Clean-up

I found this Kaywoodie in a local shop for $6. The burl looked nice and it was just in need of a deep cleaning. The stem was full of tar, I used my ultrasonic cleaner to help clean out all the small ports on the drinkless stem, then alcohol and pipe cleaners/Q tips on the stem and shank. I...

    Hello from N California

I have a small core group of friend I re-enact with, I will try to dig up a picture but I am usually the one taking all the photos! We much prefer small hunting camps set around the 1760 time period but attend larger “rendezvous” as colonial re-enactors. We try to be pretty accurate in our...

    Hello from N California

I am up by Redding, California. I used to live along the Central Coast in SLO. Loved it down there! Just grabbed a nice older 1930s Kaywoodie and a Whitehall with beautiful burl for cheap. I should have some more restores to post soon. I passed on a couple Yellobole pipes. Older pipes but I...

    Pipe ID help?

I am sure you are both right. In any case they did a nice job on it and I really like how it looks and holds. The acrylic stem feels nice in the mouth.

    Hello from N California

Thanks! i have several 18th century style pipes already, a few clay pipes, a metal with reed stem, a clay with reed stem, and a few more “modern” burl pipes. I have one pressed meerschaum that needs a stem. i hope to find a few more estate pipes around at sales and in the shops and restore...

    A simple clean/restore

I am pretty new to cleaning pipes but found this for $5 at the fleamart. A good deep cleaning and waxing and it came out pretty nice. Likely a basket pipe? The only marking is Hudson Bay Special and London Made

    Pipe ID help?

I know its a long shot but I just got this bent dublin pipe. It seems like a nice quality pipe and I love the shape. Out of my own curiosity I have been trying to find a possible maker but looking at the marks am guessing it could be a custom pipe as the marks are not what I would consider...

    Hello from N California

Hello! Just joined the forum. I am a very casual pipe smoker with an interest in restoring older pipes and trying to grow my own pipe tobacco this next year. My friends and I enjoy a pipe around the campfire and during our 18th century re-enactments. I have a lot to learn but enjoy the...
