    Post Your Pets!

I posted Maggie up above and, somewhere, a picture of Lunabelle. I need to post one of our newest pup, a three year old named Abby. Abby had been kept by the same breeder I got my Emi from 15 years ago. Abby had a litter, but proved to have the gene for Parrot Mouth. The breeder had her spayed...

    Syrian Latakia?

It’s gone for good. The last batch was sold by McClelland, I believe, several years ago. Sad, but plenty of other good baccies to move on to. It’s the Way of the Pipe. I have a few tins remaining that will disappear eventually.

Breaking in an Uncoated New Pipe

No, I don't. I'm not such a frequent smoker that carbon happens anytime soon. Just pack and enjoy.

What if There's a Fly in Your Pint Glass?

If it's still swimming? I'd screw up a napkin and give it a lift out. If it's floating belly up on the surface, I'd mutter a brief prayer, scoop it out, and finish my beer. It's alcohol, after all.

    Post Your Parental Pipe!

From years of Forum browsing, it’s clear that many of us have/had a pipe smoking parent. If you have a pipe from your parental unit, please share it here. Below is the only pipe I was able to find after my Dad’s passing: a Dr. Grabow Viscount Canadian. It’s quite a good sized piece of briar. I...

My D6 … brilliant shape IMHO. It is often used for a churchwarden — but not this one.

    Famous Historical Pipe Smokers

Famous and a veteran pipe smoker: Chesty Puller - Wikipedia - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesty_Puller He’s depicted in the streaming series “The Pacific” with pipe. In his biography I recall reading a note he wrote to his family from Korea, advising them that, should they get him a pipe...

Breaking in an Uncoated New Pipe

I used to have a break in method. I’ve forgotten it. Now, in those rare occasions, I stuff tobacco in it — whatever I’ve got open — and light it up. I really do prefer a raw briar bowl to any coating.

    Dogs & Pipes

Lunabelle… She’s three this month. Earlier this year I lost my 15 year companion, Emi. It’s still hard to think about.

    Favorite Cigarillos?

I like what’s cheap … or inexpensive… or a “good value.” I’ve been known to pay good money for a good sized cigar. But for a quick smoke it makes more sense to me to go cheap. I prefer Toscanos, unflavored — but the Macchiatos (like the one pictured) are good for a change of pace. The flavor is...

    Show Off Your Danes

Ha... that's exactly why I like it. There are other reasons; it smokes really well, and I like the bamboo. The '99 Quail shape is also a smaller chambered pipe, but much shorter and chunkier in proportions. It's perfect for travel or just walking around.

    Collecting Ethos

My collection was once pushing 300pipes. Now it’s about three dozen. All that collecting / culling has taken place over several decades. Now, I hold onto certain pipes because: I commissioned it I have sentimental memories associated with it It’s in a shape I like, especially if it’s a hard...

    Best Prince Shape carver?

The Peterson Prince, #406, is a good sized prince, as such shapes go. However, the #408 Pete is similar to a Prince and larger. Worth looking into. I tried to find of the two of them together but no luck.
