Help Me Choose My Next Pipe

I will collect a few pictures of some of the pipes in consideration. Regarding meerschaum, I’m not sure about meer, I really haven’t considered that. I’ll think about it. To note: all the pipes I currently own were purchased as I was getting into pipe smoking, and were chosen solely on either...

Help Me Choose My Next Pipe

All of my pipes have been estates, but I rarely splurg:; I’ve never spent more than maybe $50 per pipe. Recently, I’ve been checking out a few “nicer” estate pieces than what I’ve purchased before, hoping to buy myself a sort of “treat pipe”. I have a few that have piqued my interest, and I...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

Closing out my Sunday evening with long, cool, satisfying draws of bright Virginia from this Wellington (I think) p-lip stemmed sandblast. Such a narrow bowl that my tamp BARELY fits. It’s accompanied by my coffee of choice: a 20oz cup of Mayorga Cuban Roast, French pressed, with a touch of...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

What style are the other pipes from your collection that you prefer for straight Virginia, or feel are better suited to those blends? Do you feel like your “meatier”/thicker-bowl pipes seem to smoke a straight Virginia best?

Sixten Ivarsson: one of my favorite pipe makers/designers. This is a wonderful pipe!

    Help Identifying This Pipe (Savinelli?)

So I was browsing estate pipes on eBay a little while ago, and came across a piece almost identical in shape and finish to the pipe in question, just a tad bit shorter chimney/bowl depth than this one. Identical logo… Early 1950’s Stanwell Deluxe. The one I missed out on was asking $20… 🤦🏻‍♂️...

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

I smoke LTF on occasion, and may give LNF a try from Stokkebye. Yorktown is on my “To Try” list now thanks to the multiple suggestions here.

I do have that one on my “To Try” list.

    Help Identifying This Pipe (Savinelli?)

You know, after Googling Shamrock pipes (Peterson seconds it looks like), the logo does look very similar.

Thank you. I’ll definitely check out their website.

I’ll do that then. Thanks for the info

    Help Identifying This Pipe (Savinelli?)

Can anyone help me identify this pipe? I found it on Facebook Marketplace, but by the time I’d contacted it was no longer available. The poster was a lady whose husband passed away and she was selling his pipes, and couldn’t ID anything for me more than that she thought it was a Savinelli. I...

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

Those are actually the blends I’d notated, along with Meadow Lark. The Zen Garden blend sounded nice too with the slight addition of Saki.

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

That’s a good thought, I definitely want to at least try some of them and maybe put some away like I do with HH Virginia Flake as a dessert smoke.

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

That’s actually something I hadn’t thought of. Yeah $280 for 10lbs would last me a good long while. Do websites like smokingpipes.com and P&C advertise upcoming sales? Do they typically give you a heads up, or is it more of a “Flash Sale”? Maybe they send out and email newsletter, I’m just not...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

Checking out a few of the KBV blends (specifically their bright Virginias) as well. They seem to be really nice, and of course Jim reviews most all of them 4 stars.

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

I’ve been checking out some of the blends from Ken Byron (KBV) this morning. They seem to note nice flavors and get outstanding reviews from Jim.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

Had a long day out with my wife and kids, and happy to come home to a big cup of coffee and a smoke! This is my daily driver pipe, my Toyota pipe, my never left me stranded, smokes the absolute best, clean out and re-stuff 4 times a day pipe. A simple estate Dominique Signature bent brandy...

What's Similar to Newminster 400 SNF or HH Virginia Flake?

You’re probably right. Like I said in an earlier post, I’m just that person who locks in on blends I like, and that’s all I’ll smoke until I take my last breath; and to have both of the blends I like possibly affected has got me wondering. I really appreciate your recommendations!

***What Are You Smoking, June 2024?***

This morning, I decided to pull out my Grandpa’s Savinelli 316KS Moka. It was my first pipe, and has become my sipping/thinking pipe. I’m going for some LTF, should be good for over an hour as it smokes wonderfully slow. Happy Saturday morning fellas!
