    Storage Questions

OK, I've know done the aforementioned test off using essential oils and see if they escape in order to see if a seal is airtight or not. The transparent seals on the flip top lids were the problem. I think they are made from silicone but I could be wrong. Aroma, and therefore air (and probably...

Goshdarn it. Tin foil lids like bryguy suggested? Or putting them in some version off those Mylar bags, if I can find big enough ones. Vegetable oil or vaseline on the lids is another option. What vegetable oil does the fine gentleman who recommended this recommend? I realize that I have a...

    Storage Questions

First of all, thanks for all the responses. I'm thinking off simply putting a layer off plastic foil over all the lever lid jars. It really feels as if this should be airtight.

Yes those 50 tins have all been opened. The mason jars I've used don't seem to be completely airtight unless I seal them every time. @oldtoby: Thanks for the vegetable oil advice. Would it work with silicone, and is vaseline fine?

Note: I smoke few aromatics and the ones I do have I do not care that much about.

Those lever type lids sucking was a huge fear I had. I already spent like 150 dollars+ on them. :( How bad is it if it's not completely airtight? I don't mind rehydrating with a few drops off water every now and then, but lost flavour or decrease in quality is not acceptable. I've spent too much...

Hello,I have about 50 opened pipe blends that I wish to smoke over the course of several years. I plan on smoking one bowl a day and for me the enjoyment is at it's greatest when I can pick a different one almost every time, making notes about the different tastes etc. Problem is that I don't...

Beginner's Tobacco Recommendation with Specific Requirements.

BS Flake is an excellent idea. I have some and I consider it incredible, for some reason I hadn't really considered it. Samuel Gawith is also just a cool brand because off their strict adherence to tradition.

Beginner's Tobacco Recommendation with Specific Requirements.

The evangelist & dramatic tone off the post was largely meant as a joke, turning an unhealthy & hedonistic leisure into some great cause is in itself comical. I thought the reflection on the grandness off my ambitions in the section about converting anti-baccy people made it obvious, but oh...

Beginner's Tobacco Recommendation with Specific Requirements.

Notes from my own pool off aquired knowledge*, most off which is well known: Burley & cavendish just seem to burn way better than VA's or anything else. It seems as if you can leave the pipe unattended for a ridicolously long time without having them go out with certain blends. Mac Baren...

Beginner's Tobacco Recommendation with Specific Requirements.

Hello, I'm a pipe smoking guy who mostly enjoys virtually all type off pipe tobacco, but my favorite genres being English/Balkan, VAPer & DFK heavy flakes (MBHH Old Dark Fired is a big favorite for example) I have a grand mission to revive the cultural value & respect off tobacco as a...
