I remember those fruitcakes used to show up at my house too........ I kicked most their asses, but a few of the long-haired ones got away..... I think they was on the dope or something........ Worth a try. I always thought that the stinger was just metal on vulcanite. There seems to be some sort of glue on the insert though, and its alway softened up with the heat method for me.- beefeater33

I've had a lot better luck moving the insert. I have a glass top electric range and with the burner hot, hold the stummell on it with the aluminum insert flat on the glass. It doesn't take long. I use a piece of wooden dowel sharpened to a point- kind of like a sharpened pencil. With the...- beefeater33
