Hey--great looking restoration, beautiful pipe! I've used the aptly named Magic Erasers on fragile stems too--my dad's old danish pipe looks new now. I've started to ask sellers to please separate the stem from the pipe. I've been lucky so far, but have received a few soft mailing envelopes with the pipe loosely wrapped in tissue--all parts attached. I'll add that of the 4 B&M stores I went to during our conversations here--only one knew about McClelland's closing up shop--and it was because he'd gotten a letter from them that day. Keeping Bands Shiny
I had a deeply tarnished nickle band--so bad I wasn't sure if the nickle had been rubbed nearly off. I used white vinegar, slightly watered down. Peterson's 268 Shape Change?
I felt they looked more billiard-like also. The plumper/rounder base turns this away from the zulu shape I prefer and into a hybrid I wouldn't ever purchase again. Hope it's a fluke, but if it's a change (which I find difficult to believe yet worry about) then: yuck. Older 268s I own are also... -

Is Peterson's 268 zulu shape changing? My older 268s are more 'angular' at the bowl base as it transitions upward toward the top. The newer 268s I've seen recently on Smokingpipes are all much rounder on the bottom, more flowing & less squared. I don't think it has anything to do with camera...
