    Restoration of a Comoy's Sunrise Grain 441

Thank you! The tried and true Oxiclean bath, Magic Eraser...and in this case Black Medium-Thick CA glue, 220-grit sandpaper and a needle file on the button...and then the usual polishing though all of the grades of micromesh pads. Finished with a dab of white nail polish on the stem logo, with...

    Barling (BB&S) Restoration Thoughts

I'll close the loop here and will post under the Pipe Repair header with future restorations, starting with this Comoy's Sunrise Grain 441! Here's how the Barling BB&S Londoner 403T turned out. We decided to remove as much of the black stain as we could without harming the pipe, because the...

    Restoration of a Comoy's Sunrise Grain 441

paneled; with broken button.. Title edited for brevity. -jpm A pipe that hadn’t been smoked in 40 years! I found this paneled Comoy’s Sunrise Grain 441 in my parents’ basement and did my best bringing it back to life for International Pipe Smoking Day.

    Barling (BB&S) Restoration Thoughts

@sablebrush52 Thank you! The pipe I attached to my Forum post is the same one in my Flickr feed — Flickr just gave me more photo upload slots so I could show more photos of it. The worn away black on the shank extension is pretty glossy, and I wonder if it’s paint instead of stain. I do really...

Thank you, @monty55, and will do. Would it be better if I deleted and reposted to the Pipe Restoration and Maintenance header? I'm a first-timer!

    Barling (BB&S) Restoration Thoughts

I think you’re right @BROBS. From the Flickr images, would you say the whole band should be restored to smooth black, or should it be a little speckled, like the rustication, everywhere except the smooth bottom?

    Barling (BB&S) Restoration Thoughts

My first thought was heavily tarnished silver, too! I tried silver polish and when it didn't yield any result I realized it was partially painted wood!

Are Most Pipe Racks Made Wrong

I love the way pipes look stored horizontally, like in a pipe shop. I spent a long time rack-hunting, but couldn't find one that would grow with my collection. So I made one using curtain rods that look like...what else...pipe fixtures! And fishing pole clips with the addition of beefier screws...

    Barling (BB&S) Restoration Thoughts

Longtime forum reader, first time poster! My friend and I are restoring a Barling BB&S Londoner 403T from my father's collection. There's a wooden band around the shank, and how it's supposed to be finished is a mystery! The bottom of the band is smooth and black, like the stamped area on the...
