How to Press your Own Cake?

I’m genuinely curious…what’s the value in pressing tobaccos at home? Reducing storage space? Maintaining moisture levels? Maturing the tobacco? @renfield mentioned melding the flavors. Seems like an easy, inexpensive process, so I thought I might give it a shot, but I wanted to understand it more.

    Bonjour, Hello from a Frenchman

I’m traveling now, but when I get home, I’ll share some better pictures of my two pipes. Maybe do a little write up on a different thread introducing everyone to Tunisia’s only pipemaker.

    Bonjour, Hello from a Frenchman

I had to dig up some pictures of the pipes he brought to an artisan fair back in 2019. If you zoom in, you can see the prices. Seems to be anywhere from 60-250 TND. For reference, 1 USD is about equal to 3 TND. I circled the pipe that I bought that day.

    Bonjour, Hello from a Frenchman

I have two of his pipes. He’s a super nice guy. If you ever visit, he would be glad to show you around his workshop in Tabarka. He’s a third generation pipe maker, working from his grandfather’s workshop, and making pipes from briar that his grandfather harvested.

Big time congrats! I also enjoy listening to jazz on vinyl. I’ve noticed Miles Davis: Porgy and Bess under pipes in some of your other posts on this thread. It’s one of my favorites.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2022?***

I got my start years ago smoking 1Q. Among the blends that I tried, it was the one that stuck. I hadn’t smoked it in awhile, so I thought I would pick it up again. I was disappointed to find it flatter and less satisfying than I remembered, so I added in some cube cut burley I had on the shelf...
