What Are You Smoking - September 2012

Pulling some 60-year-old Cope's Escudo out of the cellar, to be packed in a new Becker & Musico at today's NYPC annual picnic. It shall be a good day.

    New Box Pass Thread

The USPS is very near the top of my list for "First Ones Up Against the Wall When the Revolution Comes". I'm sure I'm on theirs, too. Let me know if I can lend a hand, BS.

Halfway through that tin of Escudo already... :puffy:

What Are You Smoking - September 2012

Escudo in a Paolo Becker which I don't have a picture of...which points out to me that among other things, I need to update my album on here! :puffy:

Are there any good VAPERS & VA blends that do not need aging to be enjoyed?

Escudo, Haddo's Delight, McClelland 2015, Orlik, and Stokkebye LBF & LNF are my list toppers, no matter the age--like sparroa notes, they're simply different blends at different ages, and lovely experiences at that.

Probably my 8th bowl of MacBaren Navy Mixture today in a variety of pipes.

    What Are You Smoking?(August 2012)

NYPC Bowling Green in the Sasieni. I opened this tin and burned straight through it in a week; a heavenly smoke and it's only got a few months on it. Can't wait to taste what a couple years does to this wonderful cake. Oh and yes, I'm still alive and well, thanks, just been much too busy for...

Help Me Out Here...re: Escudo Navy Deluxe

I second the empty stomach being a main culprit. Per an STG rep, Escudo maintains (and has always had) a 16% Perique content, as well as African Virginias, which accounts for the hearty nicotine dose; of course a lot of how this affects you depends on your particular body chemistry at the moment...

    Mason jar alternatives

Mason jars *are* the alternative. If you're looking toward long-term storage, hermetically sealable glass is the only way to go.

Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake Pipe Tobacco Review

Excellent review as well as a peek behind the curtain, Adam. Reminds me I still have to send you my notes from our last experiment. Cheers!

John Cotton Throwdown Winner Now Available

I said it in my article and I wasn't bullshitting engaging in hyperbole for the sake of prose; I'm ordering some of this ASAP. It was a great smoke, perfect for summertime backyards, a tall glass of sweet tea, and soaking up the indolence.

    Smoke and Drinks Analogy

I for one enjoyed the analogies, Carlos, and would also add Kevin's bold assessment of hookah being the wine coolers of the tobacco world (though there's quite a difference in the Western approach and the Middle- and Far-Eastern approaches) And while we're on the subject, here's a couple...

NYPC Hell's Kitchen - Hells Bells!

I have yet to try the Sextant, it's at the top of my TAD list. I hate to admit it, but that Pease character hasn't made a blend yet that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed (and cellared). That being said, the NYPC is undoubtedly better

    Dodged a $500.00 Vet Bill

Yes, 5 cc--ask the vet for a small syringe (minus the needle); it makes it super easy to open their maw and inject the vinegar down their throats. Sounds barbaric, but it's much easier than letting them taste it. I'm confused that your vet says opening the urethra is a problem; from what you've...
