    Some guy that used to lurk here wrote a bit on this topic... ;) Paper & charcoal filters will remove moisture and particulate from the smoke stream through dint of surface area alone; balsa, being wood, is cellularly hygromorphic so will absorb a great deal more moisture than one would think...
