Kitchen wire-bail containers with silicone rubber seals

Yeah, it's not a motif I would choose, but they were there, OK. I agree Goodwill would have been cheaper, but I'm happy with the functionality.

Wow! What a review! I wish I could pull all that detail out of a tobacco and I wish I could write like that! Very interesting review! :D

Kitchen wire-bail containers with silicone rubber seals

No teddy bears. That was an Internet photo I found. Got them at lunch today. No bleach, I'm not that anal. I gave them a good washing with hot water and dishsoap, including the seals. Loaded the small one with some MacBaren Vanilla Cream.

Kitchen wire-bail containers with silicone rubber seals

Cool! They had several sizes. I will get a couple and post a photo later. Looks like the seals are replaceable, too, which makes me feel good. Thanks, guys!

Kitchen wire-bail containers with silicone rubber seals

Sorry for the two posts. The gaskets look like this stuff. This is not intended for aging, but for storing my every day smoke stuff. Thanks!

Kitchen wire-bail containers with silicone rubber seals

I came across a couple of nice, reasonably-priced and attractive glazed pottery containers with wire bail tops and translucent white silicone rubber seals. So far I have only used mason jars, and I know most pipe humidor jars are no good. How about these, anyone used anything like it? This is...

Has anyone tried Kingsford charcoal ash for pipe mud?

I'm going to test this, I want to stick with natural material, either fireplace ash or charcoal ash. The sticky makes it clear that regardless of what people actually use most, fireplace ash is better, and he supports it with experimentation. If I can't determine if the charcoal ash is...

Has anyone tried Kingsford charcoal ash for pipe mud?

I posted this in the sticky above, but I think once folks read it, they don't check it later. The chemistry lesson in that thread was awesome! But in this hot summer, my fireplace is not getting a workout and I need to make some mud. Will Charcoal ash have a similar makeup to fireplace ash...

Please talk to me about clay pipes ...

This is timely, I'm looking at a LePeltier for the same reason, smoking outside. It can be windy fairly steadily in Chicago and I do worry about burning out bowls. I have been looking at clay posts all afternoon and MOST (not all) smokers feel the dutch types smoke way too hot, and they are very...

Please talk to me about clay pipes ...

I want to be able to smoke outside without fear of burning out my cob or briar bowls. I have not heard much about clay pipes, but I'm thinking they may be a good option. I've only seen LePeltier as a brand, although I have not looked for a lot of them. Thoughts?

Since Penzance is hard to come by...

Wow! That's a ridiculous price. I got some last night not knowing what the heck is was (I'm new to this). The tobacconist suggested it when I told him what else I liked, I had never heard of it. 2 oz tin of the flake, $12.95 USD, plus tax. Nice stuff, but a little wet, I should have let it sit...

Pipe Mud and Pipe Cement (WARNING: GIANT POST)

Great thread, thanks! I have a bent with an air hole drilled way too high, this is perfect! It is middle of summer and our fireplace is cleaned out. Anyone know how the fine ash from regular Kingsford Briquets from my Weber kettle might work? I do note that if it gets wet in the grill it can be...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

By the way, the avatar system is a mess, won't work for me for some reason. I'm using FireFox. I'm used to avatars, I have them on a bunch of sites, can't figure out what the issue is here.

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Hello! My name is John, my family lives in Philly, I work in Chicago, unfortunately, so to take up some time in the evenings, I just started back to the pipe after a 30 year layoff since my college days. I started with a MM, but my son mailed a couple briars and I just got this beauty on eBay...
