Natural Bone Stem? Many Questions
Bone has been used for stems extensions, tenons, and tenon extensions for years. It's handles the heat just fine. It does color over time though.- RustiePyles CPG

Sodium Silicate And Mortises
It’s a mild adhesive, I wouldn’t put it in a mortise. That’s a good way to lock up a stem. Plus coating the inside of a mortise will reduce its inside diameter making it tighter. Seems like a bad idea to me.- RustiePyles CPG

Is that an "export" model? I wouldn't put to much stock in the funneled tenon. I know nearly every pipe I've ever sold has had a funneled tenon and none of them came to me that way.
