    Brass Pipe Nail?

I really love the simplicity and functionality of a basic pipe nail as both tamper and scoop, but I hate the lack of any weight to it. I'd love a nice pipe nail made of solid brass or even copper (which would be nice, but still not a lot of weight). Aluminum are all I see on the web. Any ideas?

    Sizes of Mouthpiece/Stem/Bit

It's funny you're asking this right now. Just last week I received my first two Morgan Bones pipes. I was so disappointed in the bits, they are both thicker and wider than I am used to and feel bulky and clunky to me. If I stick with them I'm sure I'll get used to them but I like my series...

    Cherry Smash?

I really like Lane's "Dark Red" but I never hear anyone else recommend or hype it. I have never tried Cherry Smash though so I am actually no help at all.

    B&M Ripoff?

That doesn't read like you are referring to just one person. At what point can I insert the beating of a dead horse gif on your behalf?

    B&M Ripoff?

I quoted the offending response, I apologize if others thought I was referring to anything other than the person I specifically quoted.

    B&M Ripoff?

Conflate much? Apologies for believing that "here we go again" type jacka**ery doesn't belong in a forum set aside for "beginners"

    B&M Ripoff?

Ohh, here we go again. "Gouging, rip off, unfair!" Sir, there is nothing preventing you from turning around and walking out, or did they stop you at the door, take your wallet, rough you up a bit, and toss you out the door? Some places are just more expensive to operate. Suck it up and pay it...

    B&M Ripoff?

I'm in Michigan and I don't think it's the taxes because I've gotten 1Q and BCA at another location for ~$4-5/ounce.

    B&M Ripoff?

I'm all about supporting my local brick and mortar pipe and tobacco resource, but I'm feeling like there's a bit of gouging here. "Basket Pipes" (including MM cobs with stickers still on them) are $40. Their bulk blends are exceptionally expensive as well. They're selling HGL that they've...

    cellarlabels.com

Personally I get super miffed every time I see (typically) a pick-up with a sticker of Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes fame) pissing on a Chevy/Ford/etc. logo. Bill Watterson famously turned down any and all opportunities to merchandise Calvin and Hobbes, hence there are no Hobbes stuffed tigers...

    Music to pipe to?

If music it's jazz...usually 50's and 60's modal or hard bop...but more often I like to catch up on the WhiskyCast podcast

    Smokey Eyes

haha, I'm so grateful that it's not just me. I've given up smoking my bent billiard because the smoke seems to go straight into my eyes no matter where I sit or how I hold the pipe. My author, straight billiard, and Rossi 8673 do just fine and give me no smokey-eye problems at all!

    Everyday no brainer smoke

Early: Northwoods Later: 50/50 mix of L1Q & BCA (thank you to whoever it was on here that suggested this!)

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

Hey...how did you make it work? The pics don't come up for me in either of my posts. (and thanks...I'm digging it)

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

ok, first attempt at posting pics failed (shocker!) but I think it's because they're gigantic. Take #2 coming up...

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

Sorry I didn't take any "before" photos but anyone can easily enough to a search for what a new Rossi Vittoria finish looks like. Very black and glossy...perfectly nice and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but I wanted to mess around with it, so here I am. I'm sure some will think I've...

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

That's great info and a great example, thank you. I think I'll start with the acetone to knock down the shine and then see how it looks...if I want to remove any of the stain at that point I can try something like the alcohol. I'm sure the briar isn't great so maybe stripping it completely...

Stripping a Finish on a Rusticated Author?

Sounds good. I've got some old tooth brushes to work it in with - I'll see what kind of damage I can do. Thanks!
