Trying Out Gawith Blends and Sharing My Impressions

I recently tried Kendal Black Cherry. It's definitely not a typical cherry aromatic. I haven't tasted anything like this yet. I do get a kind of floral soapy essence from it. Anyone try this G&H blend?

    Dark Fired Kentucky

I wasn't crazy about latakia when I first tried it but I'm liking the DFK. It's a different kind of smokey taste. Still trying to get all the nuances of it

    Expanding pallet

One thing about this hobby is there is no shortage of blends to try thanks to online purchasing. I was overwhelmed the first time I went to a site and tried to decide!! I try something different every time I place an order and buy what I know I already like. Happy sampling!

    Dark Fired Kentucky

I have been trying many different types of tobaccos and blends in my first few months of pipe smoking. I recently received some DFK. Smoked by itself it is definitely a stout tobacco. I have read where it can be also used as a condiment for blends. What types of tobaccos does DFK compliment?

Removing Corn Cob Stem Protruding Into Bowl

I know it's way overkill on such a cheap pipe as a cob, but when I have spare time at work I head to the machine shop and chuck the cob in the smallest lathe and with an end mill that fits the chamber I remove the extension. I then turn a hardwood disc and press it into the chamber to take up...

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

Finally Starting To Understand Flavor Basics

B Being a new pipe smoker too, I noticed the difference once I got the hang of not smoking too fast and being able to actually taste the different tobaccos in a certain blend. Neat experience when it happens

    Vacuum Sealed and Well Aged

Good to know. I thought about the wife's vacuum sealer but right now I'm just getting started with some glass jars.

I've got no Reason to Quit

Wow! Same here. I never acquired the taste for alcohol but used tobacco. After 25 years of cigarettes I found pipe smoking and I'm truly loving it. Hopefully I can keep clear of Camels!

    Resting a Pipe

I'm basically a new pipe smoker but I guess I am a utilitarian smoker. I have my pipe with me all day at work and smoke it many times. I run a pipe cleaner through it after each use and have had no issues. I mainly smoke cobs and MM hardwoods at work due to the environment I work in and they...
