    Weber Meerschaum -Info Sought

African meers were often rusticated like this. I'd bet it's the real deal.

    Fatih Freehand Self-Imposed B'day Meer.

Not many carvers besides Bekler, Kural and S. Yanik have done abstract designs. All three have their own character. This carver, whoever they are, did a beautiful job, and it's different from anything those three made.

Only Yanik Would Carve Something Like This

That pipe is spectacular! I've had to put my big Yanik up for sale, same price I paid (I never smoked it and only handled it lightly) because I need money for other items I want to put in my collections, but I feel bad about it. I'd feel just as bad about selling that bison if I had it. Mine:

Mine is smooth, and it's in okay shape but has quite a few small fills.

How to Sell a Large Lot of Pipes

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I should sell this one, too. It's neat, but I'm not too likely to smoke it much. Is what the Syringe sold for loosely what the Mastercraft is worth too?

Ebay mostly. A few of the really-low-end ones went to a friend who has an antique shop.

    Translucent Meerschaum?

Wish I knew where I could get one exactly like yours, wanna trade? (I promise I'm kidding) Here's mine. I haven't smoked it. Black stem, octagonal panel form but with uneven panels. Signed "Ali" in letters carved so neatly that they look embossed! The spots on the top were dust.

All but the two Alphas, the Enterprise (extra-long pipe) and Dialite, have been sold.

How to Sell a Large Lot of Pipes

I'm very happy! I couldn't seem to locate anything about it online. I have one marked Sparkless Cigar-Pipe,. with an "M" on the mouthpiece (Mastercraft?) The front half and the metal tip both unscrew. Can you tell me from which end I fill it, and how to pack and light it properly? I've tried...

    Silver Eskimos

To the discussion about material, this pipe is absolutely meerschaum. Rarely will you see a pipe made from bone or ivory, and never one cased like this.

Only Yanik Would Carve Something Like This

So you know, this is quite an old Yanik pipe, probably 20 years or more. He's much, much better with faces now.

    Translucent Meerschaum?

I have a translucent meerschaum spigot I haven't yet smoked, bought at Iwan Ries. I thought it was beautiful. It pales in comparison to this one!

    Where to go in Philadelphia?

Cheesesteaks indeed, but where, I wonder? Pat's & GEno's are the big names, but every single user I see discussing them on food forums has a completely different place for THE VERY BEST cheesesteaks. And is it sacrilege to order them with provolone? I know Cheez Whiz is the gold standard there...

Nice antique meerschaum you've got! Excellent metalwork.

    Where to go in Philadelphia?

I'll be there in June. Are there any tobacconists who have at least a fair selection of pipes? Or any good antique shops, for that matter? Most of what I found online looked like cigar stores.

Kirsten Pipes - I happened into what remains of the retail shop.

First, they lost the Fisherman's Terminal shop due to rising rents, but had a smaller, newer shop on Denny. They had enough parts & bowls to last "a long time," and when those ran out and they tried to have more produced, all their machinists had retired. The remaining Kirsten family were going...

How to Sell a Large Lot of Pipes

You can do that, but if nothing like what you have has sold recently, or there's only one... I've been slowly going through them. As said, I may ask a friend who has a WorthPoint account if I can use it for a day or two and see a lot more closed auctions. The one briar I kept from the lot, the...

How to Sell a Large Lot of Pipes

If I wanted to sell on the ol' 'Bay (or here) is there a good way to find realistic values? I know very well the 'Bay occasionally has very high or low sale prices for other items I collect about which I do know typical collecting values.

That may be, but his website says he won't accept them. I can still contact him and ask, but I don't have the equipment or the know-how to clean them.
