    Hello from Montreal, Qc

Welcome, Mitch. Great community here. You’ll learn more about pipe smoking here than anywhere. I’m taking the family to Montreal for Christmas. My son asked Santa for snow this year. Not much of a chance for snow in Orlando so we’re heading to Montreal. A week in freezing temperatures at my...

    Dunhill Aperitif, a Quick Review

I’ve tried so many times to like Aperitif. I have at least four tins and haven’t managed to get through the first one. I’m always left with a funky aftertaste in my mouth that’s reminiscent of eating tootsie rolls out of the cat’s litter box. Sure, I know what you’re thinking. Sounds appealing...

    Permission to Come Aboard?

Pipestud...was nice of Nixon to invite you. My old man got one of those invitations in ‘66 from Johnson. He used to say he grabbed his extra underwear and left home for good. Got two free round trips to Vietnam. What a deal!

Vintage Ropp Pipes with Horn Stems

I bought one of their small Dublins from SPC about a year ago. No complaints. It’s a fine pipe. The horn stem does take some getting used to but works just fine. Not fragile at all. Shows no tooth marks or dings from being abused. I did notice the horn does have a slight smell. Nothing too bad...

    Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake

I love some SGFVF! It is very wet and a little drying time does it some good. One of the more fuller flavored virginias on the market.

    The Carolina Reaper!!

Thunderclap headaches? I think that would be the least of my worries. A million and a half scoville heat units going in, 10 billion units on the old tailpipe coming out. Reminds me of pictures of the old Saturn V rockets launching the Apollo missions. Flames shooting out the bottom for 500...

    Dunhill Aperitif, a Quick Review

I didn't get much sweetness from the only tin I have smoked of Aperitif. I did get plenty of sour but the sweetness never really came through for me. I didn't discount the blend as I did enjoy it. Just didn't taste as I expected. I could be in the definite minority on this one.

G.L. Pease Maltese Falcon - First Time Reviewer

I opened one a few months ago and immediately thought it was too dry. Wrong...it smoked perfectly. Thanks for the great review!

    Dunhill Caput?

I cellared deep a few years ago when PC had a great sale on. I have enough Flake, Dark Flake, & Navy Rolls to last at least two generations.

When You Tell Your Doctor You Smoke a Pipe...

Every year my Doc asks the same questions and I give him the same response...I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, and I don’t chase dames.

    SPC Plum Pudding

I’ve got a pretty good stack of Mississippi River and Plum Puddding, regular & special reserve, put away in the cellar. It should have about three years on it now. I remember it being a rather pleasant smoke but now I need to crack a tin for a revisit.

    St. Claude Billiards

I have a few of the same pipes. You can’t beat the price. They all smoke fantastically well. No matter the history or where they are made, I will continue to buy them.

    New from Middle of FL

Greetings from Central Florida. Long time lurker here. Originally from NC. I mostly smoke Virginias. I always keep an English in the rotation to keep things interesting but always crave Virginias. Yes, I’m still mourning the loss of McClelland. I’ve been smoking pipes for about 10 years. My...
