    Chai and/or Cardamom Aromatic Recommendations?

My friends tease me about my love of cardamom, but it's one of my favorite flavors. Most of the "spice" aros I've seen mostly have cinnamon and little else. Apparently half n half has cardamom, but the reviews I've seen on it don't inspire me to run out and get some. Any ideas for more complex...

    I Am Now A Professor!

I have wonderful memories of my English profs - they were all different and gifted and passionate and just really wonderful people. Wish you all the best.

    A Newbie Log

In my extremely limited experience, my cobs really do seem to smoke better when I'm not scared to put some tobacco in them. But then I think I tamp them too hard. Hopefully I can practice this weekend. I've also read that with the small bowls of the cheap cobs your margin of error is smaller.

My Wife And I Did It Again

That "oh yay/oh my goodness" feeling is real. On one hand, babies. On the other hand, my husband knows he'll be cooking supper a lot while I take my fifth nap of the day. I'll pray for grace and endurance.

Smoking to the Bottom of the Bowl.

Does how fine the tobacco is cut affect how it burns? I've got a blackberry aro from a local shop that I absolutely cannot make burn. It's drier out of the bag than my other aros, and I let it dry in the sun for maybe 20mins earlier that day before sticking it in my cob. Rassafrassasassing stuff...

What Foodstuffs Best Define the Place Where You Live?

Conecuh Sausage. Grill it outdoors. Throw some in your beans. Eat it with your pancakes. Bake it in your biscuits. Throw some on top of your cheesy grits. It's good eating.

Studies on Pipe and Cigar smokers - Inconsistent!?

Given the positive impact on mental health that nicotine can have I wouldn't say that pipe smoking is flat out unhealthy. Thinking about ADHD (which I have) - smoking a pipe gives me access to a stimulant/dopamine regulator in a form that basically forces me to do all the ADHD smart things like...

    Nuking a Cold

I've heard of more than one person smoking (inhaling) mullein leaf for a cold. Apparently it doesn't burn very well, but the people who smoke mullein leaf generally don't smoke much and only want to get a half dozen inhales anyway.

Why Does my Pipe Die When I Tamp?

Thanks, y'all! So considering that I live in Alabama not Arizona - will I probably need to dry my tobacco in the oven or something? (No microwave). Or should putting it out in the sun be ok even with the humidity? This Parson's Bend is one of the driest out of the bag that I've tried and drier...

I'd say six is definitely a bunch. We have four which just hits the threshold for large families around here. Also, your wife is really pretty 😊

Why Does my Pipe Die When I Tamp?

Hey, I think it helped! Still need to work on smoking slower, and I think I might have overpacked this a bit. Still - less sopping wet dottle than there was a week ago.

Why Does my Pipe Die When I Tamp?

I'm smoking a little no name bent briar at the moment. I filled it with Parson's Blend from Country Squire that I'd previously let air out a bit. I took my time charring it (3-4 of those little matches). Puffed a bit to get the ember going. Tamped it lightly (I thought!) and now it's out. Tried...

    Unlurking in Alabama

Ok, so true story. I'm the oldest of five kids, and when we had four kids my mom would be counting heads and always trying to count up to five. She got tired of trying to count a kid who wasn't there, so that's how we ended up with my youngest brother! I was once counting heads and kept looking...

    Unlurking in Alabama

I'm close to Birmingham. I've been to Mobile a couple of times. It's a beautiful area. We really enjoyed seeing some of the historic homes and such.

    Unlurking in Alabama

Do! I had similar concerns, but I figured that I could smoke a pipe for my own enjoyment and still be ladylike about it. There are also historic photos and videos of women smoking pipes, and some of them have absolutely elegant pipes. Women may never have been the majority of pipe smokers, but...

    Unlurking in Alabama

I really want a churchwarden as the part of me that isn't a church lady is a hobbit. Any you'd suggest?

    Unlurking in Alabama

Thanks! I actually found them from lurking here and managed to swing by one day. That must be what men feel like a fabric store 😆 They were really nice though, so I'm sure I'll be back at some point.

    Unlurking in Alabama

The more reading I've done about tobacco and nicotine the less I'm convinced that it's actually dangerous - or at the very least any more dangerous than any of the medications that are readily prescribed for depression/anxiety/adhd/etc. I had just gotten my pipe when we jumped into a really...
