    My First Chacom

Great looking pipe! I have a similar one from their Churchill line. They are very good pipes for the money.

    Ewww...

Thank you. Definitely going to try this out!

    Ewww...

How do you go about that? With your lighter? I have one that is getting pretty bad.

    Three Nuns Tobacco

I picked up some Three Nuns and the Savinelli a few months ago. After going through a tin of each I actually prefer Three Nuns though they are both fantastic.

Do you remove the stem for each cleaning?

Depends on the pipe. I have some that clean easily and don’t seem to build up gunk in the mortise very fast. Others are different and I remove the stem every time. I’d rather wear the pipe out (haven’t had any issues yet) than have bad/sour smokes.

    Mastro Geppetto

I have one and it seems to be a good value. Ordered mine direct from Italy on Al Pascia. Smokes well though I only have a half dozen bowls through it. Mine is a full bend and somehow still passes a pipe cleaner with a little fiddling.

Remember the Smoking Car on Trains?

When I was 17 I took a train out west to visit a friend. Amtrak still had a smoking lounge in one of the cars. I hung out there for a good part of the trip as there was a great group of people there and great conversation. Traveling alone most folks assumed I was older. Met many interesting...

    Getting Sick After <Daily Bowl

I occasionally get sinus or ear infections. Having something like that going on taxes my body enough that I need to ease up on pipes or I feel like crap halfway into a full bowl. In fact, there’s been a few times that it wasn’t until I tried to enjoy a pipe or cigar that I realized something is...

    WW1 Smoking

Interesting read! Saw this photo of French soldiers from 1917 the other day.

Smoking A Pipe Thoughts on Accepting A VA Loan Offer for Property ?

We sold our rental house a couple years ago to a nice young couple on a VA loan. They paid above asking knowing that there may be some hoops to jump through with the VA inspector. We had to patch some cracked/unlevel concrete in the garage. But the strangest thing was having to paint the...

    Peterson's Elizabethan Blend?

I second this. My first vaper was Escudo. First half of the bowl was kind of meh but as I got toward the end there was a little something that I enjoyed. Next couple bowls of it really opened up on my palate. Elizabethan Mixture and Escudo are both in my rotation, thoroughly enjoy them. EM is...

    Drying Tobacco- One Method

Sounds like our preferences are similar. Thank you for the detailed info. I certainly have some blends that smoke fine right out of the un dried tin. But don’t want to limit what I smoke when. Living in western Michigan there are times I could set a wetter tobacco out for hours and it wouldn’t...

    Drying Tobacco- One Method

You guys that dry out the whole tin, is there any downside to that? Must not be losing any flavor or you wouldn’t keep doing that way haha. How long does it take you to go through the whole tin? I don’t have time for an hour ritual to get tobacco ready. I try to find a heat source to dry it...

Pondering How The Same Pipe/Blend Tastes Different On Different Days, etc.

A lot of it has already been mentioned. I would add a few things. I’ve noticed very humid air will change the burn rate and alter the experience. Cooler dryer air my pipes stay lit a little easier. A clean palate has already been mentioned. Eating something loaded with garlic and onions will...

How About Those 7 or 8 oz Tins?

Forgot to answer the question. It would take me way too long to go through a 16 oz tin. I don’t think I would buy one other than to cellar something in bulk.

How About Those 7 or 8 oz Tins?

Working in an unrelated commodity processing industry this doesn’t surprise me. Our raw material costs have doubled in under 2 years. Labor up 30%+. Energy costs also doubled in that time. Same with parts etc. inflation is real and it is showing it’s ugly head. Consumers are very resistant to...

What Are You Smoking, October 2022?

Breaking in a new Chacom that I couldn’t resist with Elizabethan mixture. Very impressed with this pipe so far.

More New Forums Members Than Ever? Why Is That?

Speaking for myself. Tried pipe smoking, enjoyed it so joined here to read and get a few questions answered. After the initial obsession with trying 50 kinds of tobacco I’ve settled into what fits my palette and lifestyle. Still on here regularly but mostly just reading as I enjoy a good smoke.

    Kudos to Randy Wiley

Great looking pipes. I have been eyeballing those and having a hard time not buying one. I have two Randy Wiley’s and they are my favorite smokers.

    Elizabethan Moisture Question

On my second tin of EM and have found them just as dry as you have. Which is something I appreciate, easy to stuff a pipe on the go and not have to worry about drying it or packing loose.
