Cant taste pipe tabacco on my tongue but get the flavour though beeathing out of my nose (covid)

My sense of smell and taste is ok but I can't taste tobacco without retrohaling. I would say you're alright. There is a reason why people retrohale.

    Dating Kohlhase & Kopp Tins?

That I don't know. All of the recent release tins are at least a year old, and it wouldn't surprise me if it's true. But hard to know.

An Observation of the Coloring of Vintage Meerschaum

In that case, you could rule out the hypothesis that whale oil is the cause of antique coloring. Which leaves what? Better quality meerschaum? Different tobacco?

    The Virtues of Black Coffee

Roasting your own coffee too? Might go well with those hamburgers?

An Observation of the Coloring of Vintage Meerschaum

And apparantly jojoba oil is really close to whale oil, so if a member with a bit of money and a pipe to spare would like to try it, I am definetly ready to see the results.

An Observation of the Coloring of Vintage Meerschaum

Maybe they are pre-colored? I think that there is no way that smoking a few cigars in a meerschaum would color it that way.

    Cutty Madness. Quarterfinals Match 4.

"1" is a lot more cutty. It looks really nice and I like how it shrinks closer to the top. Classy. "1" .
  8. TheWhale13

    Cutty Madness. Quarterfinals Match 3.

"1" looks more fun, but "2" is a lot more cutty, although a bit more dull. Still it is a nice pipe, and the vote goes to "2".

    The Great Meerschaum Cake Experiment

Cake is starting to build up quite nicely. Finally getting the start of some cake in the bottom of the chamber. No noticable color difference, though it is a slow coloring pipe. Will smoke it a lot more in the future so expect more frequent updates. Also, I've not been cleaning it at all, to...

Samuel Gawith Flakes are Hard to Smoke

I've got the same problem. It's not that they are so incredibly wet but that it just won't stay alight. And then you are puffing and huffing getting tounge bite trying to keep it lit. Even when it is bone dry. Don't know what I have done wrong to offend fvf.

    Cutty Madness Quarterfinals. Match 2.

    2 is more cutty. 2.

    Translucent Meerschaum?

My (uneducated and unqualified) guess, is that this is something that was "lower grade" earlier in history. Even if they color faster, they also seem to color more splotchy, and IMO not as beautifully as a more fully colored ordinary meer, with its creamy character. Now, it's marketed...

    Translucent Meerschaum?

It's probably durable enough, but you can assume that it would impede coloring?

    Room Note Importance

A lot of people nowadays seem to hate the smell of tobacco, not because of how it actually smells but because of some psychological situation. Tobacco smells pretty good, which is probably why it was discovered as the largest addiction ever, maybe. If you are going to smoke around people that...

    Stuck On Virginia

I mainly smoke Va-based blends, since it tastes the best. Other things work, but a nice pipe tobacco should be sweet and light, not smoky or dry. But what is not different regarding personal taste..

    Real Asbestos pipe

I don't even know you are going to smoke it, but it probably wouldn't kill you. Still, I don't think most of us here would like to smoke it, except a hardened few. Asbestos is not something that you should necessarily be around too much.

    Cutty Madness. Match 6.

Easy, "1". Apple with a twist. The discreetely blue stem brings my mind to the seas, and it's just a very nice clean design, which still looks both classy and classic. The best one so far. (If that was my pipe I would designate it to Salty Dogs.)

The Case of the Cracked Peterson

Nice grain, and as long as it smokes nice, why not just smoke it? As my daddy always used to say, it's better to smoke a cracked pipe in the woods than smoke a crack pipe in the woods :)
