Why are Grocery Store Tomatoes so Inferior?

Home grown or locally grown in season (thank you, local farmers market) are always the best. There is no substitute. The best tomatoes in a supermarket are the plastic boxes of Campari or Kumato, or cherry tomatoes. Far superior than the typical bulk, rock-hard, flavorless baseballs.

Fun Things To Do With Empty Tobacco Tins

It’s actually funnier finding someone beat me to it than being able to make the joke myself 😂

    It Was Still Funny

I know very well it is inevitable that I will one day be confounded by some everyday bit of technology. That being said, it was still funny as hell when my 79 y/o mother showed me photos of QR codes, saying “I took pictures of them, but nothing happened.”

    Only One Blend

I like variety. I have about 80 jarred open tins or bulk selections (as opposed to those I keep sealed in the cellar). I find it a lot of fun to dig through my open jars to find something I’d forgotten about, or to have a long-ignored blend pop into my head that I pull out again to enjoy.

    The Great Canadian Skragg

I smoked cigarettes when I was younger and loved them, but quit a long time ago for all of the typical reasons. I still smoke cigars and pipes (obviously) because I love them. I tried dip when I was younger, and to my surprise absolutely hated it. My buddy chews whole leaf, which I’ve never...

    Great Photos Thread

Last deer season walking in at dusk from one of our blinds that’s just inside a tree line that faces east and overlooks a marshy swale. Looking east it’s quite dark, but I opened the door of the blind and turned west into a field to see this beautiful sunset:

    The Great Canadian Skragg

I have a nearly full 4 oz jar of leftovers that I intend to put in my noodle press. The resulting cake will go in a jar, then into my cabinet of jars. I will spend the following 5 years intending to smoke it eventually, then I will forget about it.

What's Your Funniest Misunderstood Song Lyric?

I know I’ve got a couple for myself, but I can’t think of them right now. However, some friends of mine have provided a couple of classics: “medieval woman” instead of “evil woman”. [ELO]. 😂😂😂 Another friend had a misunderstanding instead a straight lyric mistake. He thought the line “that...

The (Becoming) Popular Ice Bath/Cold Shower Trend

I’m a science/medical layman, so I wouldn’t know one way or the other. That being said, presumably there is some anti-inflammatory effect that would be beneficial, even if it’s only transitory.

How Biased Are Pipe Tobacco Reviews

I hope it was obvious I didn’t mean that he produced a breakdown by percentages. I doubt he’s privy to that info in most cases. Rather he gives his best sense of the components’ relative proportions. Of course, that is still his subjective opinion, but far more objectively useful for me...
