    New stems for ebay pipes

Pimo offers a wide selection of stems. Get one that's close and adjust to fit. PME looks like another good source. I don't work for 'em, and have never ordered from them, but plan to before long.

    On Behalf of Crows

Fascinating topic. I do recall hearing that crows can recognize faces. @dukdalf -- That is a great story! Thanks for sharing - I have crows around here at work, so I might try something like this.

    On Behalf of Crows

Crows can hide shiny treasures over a ten-acre area, and then re-locate ninety percent of them. "Bird-brained" is just a misnomer. My wife had a parakeet that would call for "hep" when he dropped a toy. @Bob -- so two crows together would be an 'attempted murder'? :P

Stem Edge Nicks - How to Fill?

I have had excellent luck with the Stick Fast CA product from my local Woodcraft. I was able to rebuild a badly chewed diamond saddle to look new. Follow along with Steve at Reborn Pipes, and remember to take it slow and steady. My stem looked as bad as the one he repairs in this post, and...

    Better Stamping on Pipes

@Al - I saw that Upshall stamp over at Steve's, and wondered how that got by the inspector. I guess when you've put all that effort into a work of art, it's hard to reject it for a poor stamp. Seems like the last few pipes I have worked on have a very light stamp.

Your First Pipe Restoration - How'd It Go?

Micromesh pads, is the word David is looking for. Indispensable for pipe work. Aquilas, I suggest reading this blog, all the way thru, every post. Steve will give you a graduate-level education on restoring old pipes.

    Ziploc Bagging vs. Jarring

As always, I have to be contrary. I put my tobacco in sandwich-sized Zip-loc bags, then stuff them into a Mason jar. Keeps everything clean and neat.

    Reconsidering Things

quincy - You're committed, and that's the best way to be. Listen to roth. Hang in there, and best of luck. Teddy - God love ya, mate.

1940 Dunhill. Does It Have any Value?

In my insignificant opinion, this developed into the best post I have read here in a long time.

    Taking Apart a Kaywoodie

D'oh! I can clearly see, I'm totally wrong. Mea maxima culpa! But I'm glad you enjoy the Slow Puffs Tumblr. I spend too much time on it.

    GPF Cromwell

Welcome! You've come to the best place to learn. I have Cromwell system pipe, which is a Comoy's make. Does your pipe have an arched logo?

    Bow Tie Shopping

I'm tempted to tell my ugly tie story, but don't want to redneck up this classy thread. Al: Thank you for the lovely picture. I now have another mental image to call up when I think 'gentleman'. Kevin: I have no words, sir. No words.

    Everyman, Wessex, Dr. Grabow

mso489 said: BIG +1. I have a Grabow Crown Duke that handles like a dream. I have 'good' pipes that never lived up to potential, and restored junkers that give hours of pleasure.

    Taking Apart a Kaywoodie

I wouldn't alter that pipe. It's a pre-war four-hole, and you got an incredible deal!

My eBay 1940 Something Kaywoodie Flamegrain

I'm pretty sure I had bid on that pipe. It's a true beauty, and ought to be a great smoker. Glad you snagged it!

Half & Half.. and Prince Albert

@ 85royals - Mix two parts PA to one part Alamo for a very good smoke.

Half & Half.. and Prince Albert

I'm with venturer- I can't love 'Arfn'Arf, and PA is what I reach for first. But heed the excellent advice of the nsfisher and mix up your PA with... hell, anything. No better mixer out there, for my money.
